COMMISSIONERS COURT RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE GOVERNOR’S CRIMINAL JUSTICE
DIVISION FOR FUNDING THE JUVENILE ACCOUNTABILITY BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM ALSO KNOWN AS
“PROBATION RULES ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM”.
WHEREAS, the Commissioners Court of Nueces County, Texas has the moral obligation to the citizens and taxpayers of Nueces
County, Texas, to insure that the criminal justice system operates in the most efficient and coordinated manner possible; and,
WHEREAS, the Commissioners Court is aware that juvenile crime continues to be a serious community problem; and,
WHEREAS, the Commissioners Court believes that the program known as “Probation Rules Enforcement Program (PREP)” will
be in the best interest of the community, the children, and young adults of our community by providing intensive field supervision
of probationers and support to parents in Nueces County, Texas.
WHEREAS, the opportunity exists to fund vital parts of this program through the office the Governor of the State of Texas,
Criminal Justice Division; and,
WHEREAS, said Grant is in the amount of $10,840.00 with a required cash match of $1,204.00 The General Fund match of
$43,675.00, includes the required cash match for PREP officer estimated annual salary of $54,515.00.
WHEREAS, in the event of loss or misuse of the Criminal Justice Division funds, the Commissioners Court agrees that funds
will be returned to the Criminal Justice Division office of the Governor of the State of Texas in full.
WHEREAS, the County Judge is designated as the authorized official who is given the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter, or
terminate this grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSIONERS COURT OF NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS, that
the County submits a grant request to the Office of the Governor of Texas, Criminal Justice Division, to assist in the funding of
the program of “Juvenile Accountability Block Grant Program”.
