Code: 8810 NAICS Code: 921190 Prepared by: Julie Guerra Date: Rev. 1/22/97; 7-9-01; 10-1-04; 12/14/09; 3/16/10;6/24/10 Approved by: Date: SUMMARY: Assists the County Judge in establishing objective and priorities for the emergency management program and provides general policy guidance on the conduct of the program; monitors the emergency response during disaster situations and provides advice and direction where appropriate; assists in keeping the public informed during emergency situations; coordinates assistance from other local governments and/or the State; and assists in the activation of the (Emergency Operation Center) EOC. The employee is required to be on duty before, during, and after natural disasters and emergencies, as directed by the supervisor. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Serve as the staff advisor to Nueces County Judge on emergency management matters. Keeps the Nueces County Judge and governing body apprised of our preparedness status and emergency management needs. Coordinates local planning and preparedness activities and the maintenance of this plan. Prepares and maintains a resource inventory. Arranges appropriate training for local emergency management personnel and emergency responders. Coordinates periodic emergency exercises to test our plan and training. Manages the EOC, develops procedures for its operation, and conducts training for those who staff it. Activates the EOC when required. 1
