Responsible to: Head of department<br />
Purpose: to provide professional guidance and assistance to departments x, y,<br />
and z in the management of their records, and in particular with the<br />
selection of records for permanent preservation<br />

? Undertake such professional duties as may be required by the head of the<br />
department<br />
? Assist in developing record keeping systems to ensure that all records and<br />
records series are appropriately treated during their active life and disposed of<br />
thereafter<br />
? Assist in training records staff in departments<br />
? Control and supervise the work of junior and non-professional staff<br />
? Assist with effective on the job training<br />
? Evaluate the resources available to record creating agencies and make<br />
suggestions for improving value for money<br />
? Work with staff and users to evaluate the archival value of records created by the<br />
departments for which the team is responsible<br />
? Head of department<br />

? Head of Reader Services Department<br />
? Users of the service<br />
5. Circumstances<br />
The post-holder will be located in the National Archives. He or she will be required to<br />
visit the departments for which the team is responsible on a regular basis. This may<br />
involve some long journeys and overnight stays to regional headquarters.<br />
