The degree with which the dermatitis is interfering with work, the cosmetic<br />

appearance and the simple well being <strong>of</strong> the horse will all be factors which affect just<br />

how intensive the chosen treatment will be. These lesions are frequently painful and<br />

may turn a placid creature into a demon. If the horse is a work or show horse and<br />

the lesions are in the tack area, then the consequences are even more dramatic<br />

Owners will be affected emotionally, by the change in personality <strong>of</strong> their beloved<br />

pet, and by the potential inability <strong>of</strong> their horse to fulfil its “job”.<br />
