Action Type: Collaboration Action Type: Professional Development Action Type: Title I Schoolwide Susie Marshall, Literacy Interventionist (1-2) INSTRUCTION FROM HIGHLY Gregg QUALIFIED TEACHERS/ALIGNMENT: Yarbrough, Instruction will be enhanced by the Assistant purchase of appropriate materials and Principal supplies to supplement all areas of the curriculum with emphasis in literacy and math to improve student performance and to increase the quality of instruction. Action Type: Title I Schoolwide (1-2) 1 @ 1.0 FTE (Tanya Mitchell) paraprofessional will serve as the computer lab manager to help improve literacy skills through the use of i-Ready online, and curriculum based technology for all students. The computer lab manager will assist with the administering of STAR Early Literacy, and STAR Reading assessments. Action Type: Technology Inclusion Action Type: Title I Schoolwide (1-2) The school media specialist will maintain an electronic card catalog and continue circulation software support that allows teachers to search for library books by title, author, topic, etc. and allows for an efficient system of book check-out for all personnel and students. This will enable students to improve their reading skills by exposing them to all types of literature. A movie license will be renewed to allow school-wide viewings of a movie. Action Type: Technology Inclusion (1-2) Participate with Goff Real Estate in the Adopt-a-Classroom Project. The real estate employees will read to the classroom. The Chamber of Commerce will present an assembly to the students about the Booking It Project. Both of these will help comprehension, increase vocabulary, and listening skills. Action Type: Collaboration (1-2)PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES: Two parent-teacher conference days will be scheduled during the school year for teachers to meet with parents/guardians of all students. Parents will be informed about their student's academic progress on daily classwork, mastery of skills, and the following assessments: DIBELS, ITBS, and Renaissance Learning. The student portfolios will be shared during these meetings (supplemental to Act 397). Action Type: Parental Engagement Rachel Redican, Parent Facilitator (1-2) RECRUITING HIGHLY QUALIFIED Gregg TEACHERS AND Yarbrough, PARAPROFESSIONALS/POINT-IN-TIME Principal REMEDIATION: Highly qualified teachers and paraprofessionals will be recruited to provide explicit, focused instruction during the literacy block daily and to provide point-in-time remediation during literacy instruction to all students needing remediation. Action Type: Equity Action Type: Title I Schoolwide (1-2) SCHOOLWIDE REFORM STRATEGIES will continue to be implemented to refine the vertical and horizontal alignment of literacy strategies based on current research. Action Type: Alignment (1-2) SCHOOLWIDE REFORM STRATEGIES: Continue to use Renaissance Learning web based programs to increase and promote reading in the classroom and at home. The literacy instructional facilitator and teachers will be provided with professional development by the Renaissance Learning Company for the appropriate use of the system when needed.
