School Messenger will enhance the school's ability to communicate regularly with parents 24 hours a day, in multiple languages using voice messages. Parents and students will learn about the academic expectations as well as the extra-curricular activities offered for that particular grade and building. Faculty and staff introductions will also be made, and parents and students will be given the opportunity to tour the building and speak with the faculty and staff. Parents and students will be provided with a transition kit that may include books for summer reading, math projects as well as other academic content practice opportunities for the summer. (Supplemental to Act 397) Action Type: Parental Engagement Action Type: Title I Schoolwide (K) PARENTAL ENGAGEMENT will be encouraged with the use of positive approaches to promote a climate of high expectations through interactions with the school counselor (supplemental to ACT 397). Action Type: Parental Engagement Action Type: Title I Schoolwide (K) PARENTAL ENGAGEMENT (1b/2b/2d): Parent Involvement Meetings such as National Family Day, DEAR Day, Family Nights, etc. will be coordinated by the Parent Facilitator and implemented with the help of all staff members. During these events, parents will be encouraged to participate in activities that provide materials and training to help them work with their child at home to increase academic achievement in math and literacy (supplemental to ACT 397). Action Type: Parental Engagement Action Type: Title I Schoolwide (K)PARENTAL ENGAGEMENT (2b/2f): A Parent Resource Center located in the kindergarten library at Blytheville Primary School will provide resource materials available for check-out. The literacy and math materials provided will allow parents to work with their child to reach proficiency on various academic skills. Parents may request additional materials and training to use those materials. A welcome area has been established for parents/guardians to visit during school hours (supplemental to ACT 397). Action Type: Parental Engagement Action Type: Title I Schoolwide (K) PARENTAL ENGAGEMENT (1a): INFORMATIONAL PACKETS are distributed to the parents/guardians of all students during kindergarten registration each school year. Instructional materials for literacy included in the packets are an alphabet chart, a handwriting movements guide, and nursery rhyme booklets to increase the child's vocabulary. Instructional materials for math include shape blocks, a number chart, and number cards (supplemental to ACT 397).
