ACSIP http://acsip.state.ar.us/cgi-bin/index.cgi?rm=report_acsip ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE (4): The implementation of targeted research-based practices will meet the specific needs of the special education and black subpopulations. Special education students will receive literacy and math instruction in the regular classroom as well as the special education classroom. Utilization of Marzano’s Nine High-Yield Strategies during the instructional block for literacy and math will help to increase subpopulation scores. Using the backward design, a literacy Common Core curriculum for first and second grade teachers is being developed. All teachers will use the explicit teaching model that includes the explanation, modeling, guided practice,independent practice, intervention, and enrichments to teach the lessons. Teacher lesson plans will reflect the use of best practices and strategies. We will continue to implement interventions through the RTI process to ensure the subpoplulation of black students have access to high quality instruction, are supported, and served early and effectively. The RTI team will document the progress on the student's RTI folder. The team will answer the four guiding questions in determining the intervention: Problem Identification--What is the Problem? Problem Analysis--Why is it occurring? Intervention Design—What are we going to do about it? Response to Intervention—Is it working? The following interventions will be used: Reading Interventionists, Zoom-In, Read Naturally, Thinking about Reading and Math, Barton Reading and Spelling System, STAR Reading, STAR Early Literacy, Accelerated Reader, i-Ready, Math Interventionists, Math Facts in a Flash, Accelerated Math, and STAR Math by Renaissance Learning. DIBELS Benchmark Assessments and Progress Monitoring Assessments aligned with the Common Core Standards track student growth. Student skill levels determine how often these assessments are used. TLI math assessments that target specific skills from the Common Core Standards will assess student mastery and teach students test-taking strategies. In 2012-2013, a progress monitoring assessment from Wireless Generation mClassmath will be used to assess student mastery. Teachers also use informal assessments daily to assess student mastery. Data gathered from assessments are used to drive the instruction. Action Type: Technology Inclusion ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE (6): Additional time on task provided by the classroom teacher, classified interventionists, certified interventionists offer reinforcement of skills to promote mastery in literacy and math when needed. The classroom teacher,classified interventionist, and certified interventionist will reinforce skills in small assisted group instruction to low academic performing students in each classroom. The JBHM consultant provides professional development as needed. The instructional facilitators will be trained by the Crowley's Ridge Co-op when appropriate. The information will be shared with classroom teachers. The plans are reviewed by the principal and assistant principal as needed to ensure student achievement needs are being met. During the year 2012-2013, the Primary <strong>School</strong> will be in phase I of TESS (Teacher Excellence and Support System), a statewide evaluation system. The data will be analyzed to determine areas of weakness with a focus on Marzano's High Yield Strategies and shared with teachers in a timely manner. The principals and JBHM consultant will conduct focus walks and analyze the data to monitor classroom instruction. During these meetings and staff meetings, teacher input is requested in order to allow everyone a positive role in raising the standards of teaching and student achievement. Reports of progress are given to the superintendent at district leadership meetings and through reports compiled by the JBHM consultant. The superintendent reports the progress to the school board.
