It will contain results of their health screenings and work sampling artifacts. (ABC Grant) Nutritional snacks will be provided daily to all preschoolers to allow them to eat different types of snacks which are healthy. It will encourage them to make good nutritional choices outside the school environment. (ABC Grant) The preschool program will partner with community agencies and businesses such as the fire department, police department, post office, library, etc. to provide regularly scheduled field trips and programs for all preschool students to enhance their learning. This will help the students to develop an awareness of community helpers and their duties. The preschool classrooms focus on developing socialization skills, cognitive skills, motor skills, and language skills. They use Pre-ELLA strategies for literacy readiness skills. Implementation of activities promoting the development of all of the above named skills based on the Arkansas Framework for Early Childhood has been observed by the principal and ECERS evaluators. 2. To determine the degree of effectiveness of the implementation of Pre-ELLA strategies and successful implementation of the preschool curriculum for the previous school year, ECERS evaluations, Work Sampling, and the Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning (DIAL) were used. These evaluations were used to identify weak areas in instruction and to track the progression of student learning and behaviors. DIBELS Next Benchmark scores for the beginning of the school year are used to track the number of students who enter kindergarten in the low risk category. 3. During the 2010-2011 school year, ECERS did not visit to re-evalute the preschool program. The 2009-2010 ECERS Environmental Assessment revealed several areas that scored below the state recommended level of developmental appropriate activities. The lowest scoring areas included greeting of students, safety practices, nature/science activities, and use of student computers. The assessment detailed the rationale of the scoring for each activity as well as the details of the observation. Steps have been taken to correct and monitor all areas with low scores. Work Sampling was used throughout the year to chart each student's achievement of skills, and pinpoint weak areas in which the student needed more practice or instruction. The majority of the DIAL assessments indicated that the students exhibited developmental appropriate skills in social, motor, and language skills. Results from the DIBELS Next Benchmark Assessment indicated that 68% of the returning students met the benchmark score for the beginning of the year. 23% were classified as "some risk", and 9% were classified as "at risk". Action Type: Program Evaluation COLLABORATION/RECRUITING AND MAINTAINING OF HIGHLY QUALIFIED PARAPROFESSIONALS: MCEOC made a five year commitment to provide 2 @ 1.0 FTE paraprofessionals on campus to support the preschool teachers in the classroom. These paraprofessionals will perform the same duties as the school employed paraprofessionals.
