II space bro<strong>the</strong>r religions to largely ignore <strong>the</strong> recent advent <strong>of</strong> UFO phenomena. While Mart<strong>in</strong><br />
was certa<strong>in</strong>ly aware <strong>of</strong> and <strong>in</strong>terested <strong>in</strong> UFOs, <strong>the</strong>re was no evidence <strong>of</strong> any attempt on her part<br />
to <strong>in</strong>tegrate <strong>the</strong> ostensibly material phenomena <strong>of</strong> fly<strong>in</strong>g saucers with her operative philosophy.<br />
As discussed <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>troduction to this chapter, <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r characteristic response <strong>of</strong> space bro<strong>the</strong>r<br />
religions to <strong>the</strong> advent <strong>of</strong> UFO’s was to <strong>in</strong>clude <strong>the</strong>m as a mode <strong>of</strong> transport preem<strong>in</strong>ent example<br />

GEORGE ADAMSKI<br />
Most <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> contactee movement is and was characterized by occult modes <strong>of</strong> communication,<br />
automatic writ<strong>in</strong>g and channel<strong>in</strong>g. As previously noted, Ballard’s embodied contacts with St.<br />
Germa<strong>in</strong>e and <strong>the</strong> Venusian Lords <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Flame set a precedent for embodied contact with<br />
extraterrestrial visitors. Among cases <strong>of</strong> immediate post World War II embodied contact,<br />
perhaps <strong>the</strong> most notable, both <strong>in</strong> terms <strong>of</strong> cont<strong>in</strong>uity with <strong>the</strong> cases and traditions already<br />
discussed and <strong>in</strong> terms <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>fluence on later cases, was that <strong>of</strong> George Adamski, a central figure<br />

Adamski claimed, primarily <strong>in</strong> his book Inside <strong>the</strong> Space Ships (a title later changed to Inside <strong>the</strong><br />

thoroughly addressed <strong>the</strong> questions posed by <strong>the</strong>ir guest and pr<strong>of</strong>fered <strong>the</strong> knowledge that <strong>the</strong>y<br />
were here to save humanity from its own destructive impulses.<br />
Adamski parlayed his experiences <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> atta<strong>in</strong>ment <strong>of</strong> guru status. Through writ<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
