ARTICLE 18<br />

To see if <strong>the</strong> <strong>Town</strong> will vote to raise and appropriate an amount up to<br />

acres <strong>of</strong> land located to <strong>the</strong> north <strong>of</strong> White's Lane and to <strong>the</strong> east <strong>of</strong> Mill Road,<br />

shown on <strong>Hampton</strong> Tax Map 0092, Lot 0001. The land to be under <strong>the</strong><br />

jurisdiction <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Conservation Commission for conservation purposes.<br />

Recommended by <strong>the</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Selectmen. Recommended by <strong>the</strong> Budget<br />

Committee.<br />

Selectman Searle spoke on <strong>the</strong> article stating that it is a great<br />

opportunity to purchase 19 acres for that amount <strong>of</strong> money and that it would<br />

benefit <strong>the</strong> town for years to come. A map <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hampton</strong> showing <strong>the</strong> areas and<br />

<strong>the</strong> wildlife habitat <strong>the</strong>y supported was supplied by Jim Chase and Chris Nash <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> NH Estuary Project.<br />

It was moved to end discussion on <strong>the</strong> article by Edward Buck and<br />

seconded by Bonnie Searle. The assembly agreed to do so by 2/3 vote and<br />

Article 1 8 was sent to <strong>the</strong> ballot as written.<br />

Shall <strong>the</strong> <strong>Town</strong> raise and appropriate <strong>the</strong> sum <strong>of</strong> $125,000 as a special<br />

article to purchase a replacement ambulance for <strong>the</strong> Fire and Rescue service.<br />

Recommended by <strong>the</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Selectmen. Recommended by <strong>the</strong> Budget<br />

Committee.<br />

Arthur Moody spoke in favor <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> article and <strong>of</strong>fered <strong>the</strong> following<br />

amendment.<br />

"Shall <strong>the</strong> town raise and appropriate <strong>the</strong> sum <strong>of</strong> $100,000 as a special<br />

warrant article<br />

to purchase a replacement ambulance for <strong>the</strong> Fire and Rescue<br />

service, with <strong>the</strong> Selectmen, as agents for withdrawal <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> balance, currently<br />

about $26,500, from <strong>the</strong> existing Fire / Rescue vehicle Capital Reserve Fund,<br />

raised and appropriated for this purpose in 1995, to cover as much <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

estimated $125,000 cost as possible, and returning <strong>the</strong> balance <strong>of</strong> this article's<br />

$185,000 to be used to exercise an existing purchase option to acquire 19 +/-<br />
