ARTICLE 42<br />

We, <strong>the</strong> undersigned residents <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hampton</strong>, being not less<br />

than twenty-five (25) in number, respectfully request <strong>the</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Selectmen to<br />

include <strong>the</strong> attached Warrant Article in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Town</strong> Warrant to be presented at <strong>the</strong><br />

1998 <strong>Town</strong> Meeting with respect to <strong>the</strong> Firefighter's contract. Fire Supervisors'<br />

contract, Public Works Department employee's contract and Police Officers'<br />

contract:<br />

Shall <strong>the</strong> <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hampton</strong>, if Article 21, Article 22, Article 23 and<br />

Article 24 are defeated, authorize <strong>the</strong> Governing Body to call one special<br />

meeting, at its option, to address Article 21, Article 22, Article 23 and Article 24<br />

cost items only?<br />

Because <strong>the</strong> meaning <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> article was not clear Ann Kaiser <strong>of</strong>fered to<br />

amend <strong>the</strong> article by substituting <strong>the</strong> following after paragraph two. "Shall <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hampton</strong>, if Article 21, Article 22, Article 23 or Article 24 are<br />

defeated, authorize <strong>the</strong> Governing Body to call one special meeting, at its<br />

option, to address <strong>the</strong> cost items only <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> defeated said article or articles.<br />

Seconded by Jason Page.<br />

The Kaiser amendment passed and <strong>the</strong> Moderator stated that Article 42<br />

would go on <strong>the</strong> ballot as amended.<br />

ARTICLE 42 PASSED<br />

A motion to restrict reconsideration on Articles 41 and 42 was made<br />

by Frederick Rice and seconded by Michael Plouffe. So voted.<br />

ARTICLE 43<br />

Article 42 requests authorization for a special town meeting to consider<br />

<strong>the</strong> cost items <strong>of</strong> Article 21, 22, 23, 24; <strong>the</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Selectmen requests that <strong>the</strong><br />

authorization include <strong>the</strong> contracts covering <strong>the</strong> Police Supervisors and<br />

Teamster's.<br />

This special meeting would be <strong>the</strong> same meeting as authorized in<br />

<strong>the</strong> event Article 42 passes.<br />

Shall <strong>the</strong> <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hampton</strong>, if Article 25 and Article 26 are defeated,<br />

authorize <strong>the</strong> Governing Body to call one special meeting, at its option, to<br />

address Article 25 and Article 26 cost items only?<br />
