RESULTS OF THE STATE PRIMARY ELECTION<br />

SEPTEMBER 8, 1998<br />

In <strong>Hampton</strong> <strong>the</strong> State Primary was held at <strong>the</strong> uptown fire station. At<br />

7:00 AM on Tuesday, September 8, 1998, Moderator John Walker declared <strong>the</strong><br />

polls opened. It was moved and seconded to waive <strong>the</strong> reading <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> warrant.<br />

The Moderator noted that <strong>the</strong> warrant was posted as required and stated that <strong>the</strong><br />

polls would remain open until 8:00 PM. Republican ballots cast were 844,<br />

Democratic ballots cast were 458. The number <strong>of</strong> registered voters in <strong>Hampton</strong><br />

is 11,391 which equals a 12% voter turnout. The results <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Primary are as<br />

follows:<br />
