3. Decision Making (1) 3. (Im-) Perfect Information<br />

We have previously introduced normal form games<br />

(Definition 3.5). This notion does not allow to deal with<br />

sequences of actions that are reactions to actions of the<br />

opponent.<br />

Extensive form (tree form) games<br />

Unlike games in normal form, those in extensive form do<br />

not assume that all moves between players are made<br />

simultaneously. This leads to a tree form, and allows to<br />

introduce strategies, that take into account the history of<br />

the game.<br />

We distinguish between perfect and imperfect<br />

information games. While the former assume that the<br />

players have complete knowledge about the game, the<br />

latter do not: a player might not know exactly which node<br />

it is in.
