The above formulation is strictly formulated
in propositional logic.
Theorem provers, even if they consider only
propositional theories, often use predicates,
variables etc.
smodels uses a predicate logic formulation,
including variables. But as there are no
function symbols, such an input can be seen
as a compact representation.
It allows to use a few rules as a shorthand for
thousands of rules using propositional
constants.
