The concept of an L-term t and an L-formula ϕ are
defined inductively:
Term: L-terms t are defined as follows:
1 each variable is a L-term.
2 if f k is a k-dimensional function symbol from L and t 1 ,
. . . ,t k are L-terms, then f k (t 1 , . . . , t k ) is a L-Term.
The set of all L-terms that one can create from the set
X ⊆ Var is called T erm L (X) or T erm Σ (X). Using X = ∅
we get the set of basic terms T erm L (∅), short: T erm L .
