Chapter 2, Marine landscapes: The work on developing
the marine landscapes for the Baltic Sea was
partly supported by the EU BSR INTERREB IIIB neighbourhood
Programme and partly by the BALANCE
partnership without which it would not have been
possible to develop the marine landscapes. The
BALANCE partnership is grateful for the support
received from partners in the NWE INTERREG IIIB
MESH project in methodology on how to map and
classify marine landscapes of the Baltic Sea as well
as marine institutes and data holders in the Baltic
Region who kindly has provide access to relevant
environmental data.
Chapter 3, Phytoplankton: Bertil Håkansson and
Ann-Turi Skjevik (SMHI) kindly provided phytoplankton
data from Sweden. Slawka Gromisz (Poland)
kindly commented on the historical occurrence of
Alexandrium ostenfendii in the Gulf of Gdańsk.
Chapter 4, Harbour porpoise: Coalition Clean Baltic
is acknowledged for the permission to use their data
as well as Per Berggren and Ursula Siebert for permission
to cite their reports, and Ralph Tiedemann
for constructive discussions. Furthermore, the help
of Anja Brandecker with the literature compilation as
well as for the support of Anne Herrmann, Kathrin
