Note: Perret & Martini (2001) have argued that the correct name for this taxon is P. benthamii Cabrera.<br />

However, they cited in synonymy P. cabrerae H. Rob. & Cuatrec., noting the holotype ‗ARGENTINA,<br />

Corrientes, Pedersen 1888 (US).‘<br />

‗Mexico to northern South America, occasionally cultivated in the United States‘ (Pruski, 1996). Bolivia<br />

(Santa Cruz).<br />

Note: On the basis <strong>of</strong> Pruski‘s key, two collections (Wood 16095 and 22254) from Bolivia (Santa Cruz), key out<br />

to P. cummingii, although the specimen has several differences from the type material <strong>of</strong> this species at K, not<br />

least the appearance <strong>of</strong> the leaves which are pinantely veined, possess a rounded to obtuse lamina base and<br />

margins with few short-mucronate ‗teeth‘.<br />
