Brief Description of Project and Relevance to this Contract (include scope, size, and cost) 1 P General Engineering Services: The City of North Miami Beach's existing water treatment facilities include approximately 15.0 million gallons per day (MGD) of lime softening water treatment facilities located at the Norwood-Oeffler Water Treatment Plant (WTP). In June 2001 Tetra Tech was contracted to perform preliminary design, final design, permitting, and construction services to expand plant capacity to treat a total of 32.0 MGD with nanofiltration and low pressure reverse osmosis technologies. The expanded facility consists of 15.0 MGD from existing lime softening facilities, 9.0 MGD for new nanofiltration facilities, 6.0 MGD from new low pressure reverse osmosis facilities, and 2.0 MGD of micron filtered raw water blend. The existing facilities were also expanded and improved. Improvements to the WTP included: • 8-new Biscayne aquifer wells and 3-new Floridian aquifer wells • 1-deep injection well for concentrate disposal • Bulk chemical facilities • High-pressure feed pumps with variable frequency drives • 9.0 MGD of nanofiltration and 6.0 MGD of LPRO membrane treatment facilities • Degasification and odor control facilities • New operations and process buildings • Associated yard piping, site work, paving, drainage and grading • Electrical and instrumentation facilities • 2-new ground storage tanks and new high service pumping facilities • Gravity sludge thickening facilities • Security System Project Highlights • Integration of membrane treatment technology at an existing facility to provide better finished water quality and an additional 15 MGD of capacity. • Project included alternative water supply funding form the SFWMD • Project Value: $ 65,000,000. • The following disciplines are covered under this project: - Water - Wastewater - Hydrogeology - Civil - Finance/Capital Planning Design Construction administration services were also provided for this project, including bidding services and construction management.
