Consumers having contract demand of above 500 KVA and upto 1499 KVA are normally supplied at 11/6/6.6 KV and consumers having contract demand of 1,500 KVA and above but not exceeding 14999 KVA are supplied at 33 KV. However the consumers having contract demand of 7500 KVA and above but not exceeding 14999 KVA may opt for taking supply at 66/132/220 KV depending upon the availability of the system voltage. For consumers having contract demand of 15000 KVA and above, the supply voltage is fixed at 66/132/220 KV depending upon the system voltage available in the area. The actual supply during 2006-2007 to the large group of consumers is as follows : Power Supply to the CESC Limited Power supply to CESC Limited is important because of its high level of power drawal from WBSEB. Their total demand from WBSEB declared for the year 2006-2007 was 560 MVA at the existing 4 points at Howrah, Liluah, Kasba and Titagarh with individual demand of 170 MVA, 130 MVA, 220 MVA and 40 MVA respectively. The total quantum of energy sold to the CESC Limited during the year under review was 839.725 MU registering an increase of 4.62 % over the sale of energy of 802.68 MU in the previous year. The total claim on account of supply to the CESC Limited excluding miscellaneous revenue during the year under review was Rs. 214.84 crores registering a fall of 3.09 % over total claim of Rs. 208.407 crores in the previous year. Likewise previous year WBSEB’s own power was wheeled through the system of CESC Limited to various 6 KV off-take points and to the ex-section 27 consumers due to inadequacy of distribution network of WBSEB at Chandannagar, Bhatpara, Sodepur, Barrackpur etc. The total quantum of energy wheeled through CESC system was 72.68 MU on payment of Rs. 21.804 lakh as wheeling charge @3 Paise per Kwh by WBSEB to CESC Limited. Power Supply to Railway for Traction Purpose : Next to CESC Limited, as single group of consumer the Railway consumed a substantial amount of power from WBSEB for traction purpose. The aggregated power demand during 2006-2007 at 20 different points of supply for traction purpose was 218.10 MVA. Energy consumption during the year under review was 650.299 MU and the corresponding revenue amounting to Rs. 259.349 crore (Prov). Out of these 82 cases, in 23 cases estimates of service connection charges are under preparation, in 16 cases estimates have been served but service connection charge awaited, in 14 cases service connection charges deposited but work orders are yet to be issued, in 29 cases work order issued and works are under execution. Tariff and allied matters The tariff order for the year 2006-07 for WBSEB is issued on 08.5.2006 by the Hon’ble Commission. The average cost of supply approved for the year 2006-07 is 319.07 paise / KWH Power Survey During the year under review, 17th Power Survey was reviewed with CEA for finalisation of the same.
