The WBSEDCL convenes Review Meeting once in each month with heads of the concerned department for taking a stock towards progress of liquidation of pending bulk connection under centralised category. To expedite the service connection to bulk consumers previous Board vide its O/O. No. 6062 dt. 31.07.03 has decided that work order for service connection to prospective bulk consumers may be issued on receipt of at least 50% security deposit in cash or in the form of Bank Guarantee, but balance amount to be paid before commencement of supply. Industrial Promotion Cell circulates detailed status report of every stage as on 15th of every calendar month in respect of all intending bulk consumers under centralised category until the service connection is effected. Industrial Promotion also arranges Joint Inspection programme for each intending bulk consumers immediately on receipt of earnest money with the concerned department of the WBSEDCL. Industrial bulk Consumers who apply for construction power get clearance immediately after Joint Inspection of their proposed factory site is completed and their firm power supply arrangement is found to be feasible. Besides, Industrial Promotion Cell also deals with the existing bulk consumers complaints as and when received. The complaints are mostly about enhancement/reduction of contractual demand, quality of power supply, frequent interruption as well as commercial aspects of offer and other related matters, which is taken up with the concerned department for redressal. Future prospect : Due to high demand of steel in open market a good number of entrepreneurs are approaching to setup Mini Steel Plants in the districts of Howrah, Hooghly, Bankura, Midnapur (East & West) and Murshidabad. M/s. Rashmi Metaliks Pvt. Ltd. is setting-up a Mini Steel Plant at Kharagpur with load demand of 27 MVA and M/s Tata Metaliks Pvt. Ltd., with load demand of 7.5 MVA, and M/s Rashi Metals Pvt. Ltd. having load demand of 7.5 MVA, Malancha and Rajpur mouzas in P.S. Kharagpur are developing as Industrial hub. In Jhargram Area, M/s Uniglobal Papers Pvt. Ltd. is setting up their project, having demand 3 MVA and M/s Nawab India Cement, having demand 1.6 MVA. WBSEDCL and WBSETCL are constructing one 220/132 KV Sub-station at Midnapur to feed industrial consumers. Turning to district Howrah several industrial parks are being established over there. These are Rubber Park, Foundry Park, Chemical Park, Food Park and Poly Park and their aggregated load demand is to the tune of 185 MW. WBSEDCL and WBSETCL are building up necessary infrastructure to cater power supply to these parks. To improve our power system in P.S. Raghunathpur and P.S. Neturia of Purulia District area, WBSEDCL and WBSETCL worked to setup one 132/33 KV Sub-station in P.S. Raghunathpur so that power supply at proper voltage with less interruption may be catered to entrepreneurs. Salt Lake Electronic Complex at Sector-V continues to be an attractive location for Software Industry. To name a few M/s Infinity Infotech Parks Ltd., having demand of 5 MVA, M/s Intelligent Infrastructure Ltd., having demand of 5.6 MVA, M/s Bengal Intelligent Parks Pvt Ltd., having demand of 9 MVA, M/s Wipro Ltd. having demand of 1.8 MVA, M/s Supreme Industries Ltd., having demand of 3 MVA, M/s Bhimrajka Impex Ltd., having demand of 1.5 MVA. In New Town Area, M/s Bengal Unitech Infrastructure (P) Ltd. is setting their project, having load demand 28 MVA. In 24 Parganas (S), a big Paper Mill, named Hanuman Paper Mill has applied for 5 MVA load. And Annual Report 2006-2007 137
M/s Webel S. L. Energy Ltd. is setting up their project having load demand 2.6 MVA, M/s Space Matrix Agencies Pvt. Ltd. having demand 1.5 MVA. In Midnapur (East), M/s Bengal Ambuja Housing Dev. Ltd., of demand 4.4 MVA, M/s Madras Cements Ltd., having demand 8.5 MVA, M/s Lal Baba Seamless Tubes Pvt. Ltd., having demand 5 MVA, M/s Praxair India Pvt. Ltd., having demand 7.5 MVA, M/s Exide Industries Ltd. (Traction Unit), having demand 7.5 MVA, M/s Emami Biotech Pvt. Ltd. having demand 1.5 MVA are few of prospective bulk consumers, setting up their projects. In Murshidabad, M/s Gujarat Ambuja Cement Ltd. applied for 8 MVA Load. In Howrah, M/s Gujarat Ambuja Cement Ltd. applied for 15 MVA. Domjur 220 KV Sub-station and Uluberia 132 KV Sub-station are already in operation, to improve power system in Howrah area of the WBSEDCL and WBSETCL so that power supply at proper voltage with less interruption may be catered to entrepreneurs. Proposed Kanksa 132 KV Sub-station at Kanksa, Dt.- Burdwan is under progress to cater quality power in that area. Erection of new 400 KV Sub-station at Guptamoni - coming up for quality power supply to prospective big entrepreneurs in Kharagpur/Midnapur areas. Erection of new 400 KV Sub-station at Jagatballavpur, Howrah - to cater quality power to the upcoming proposed industries at Howrah and adjacent area under Hooghly. Erection of Singur 220/132/33 KV Sub-station from which power supply at 220 KV will be catered to M/s Tata Motors, for their proposed Automobile Project at Singur Dt.-Hooghly, with ultimate demand of 40 MVA. Power supply to Tata Motors for their proposed Car Assembly Plant at Kharagpur, Dt.-Midnapur - nearly 5MW can be catered through a dedicated 33 KV feeder from Midnapur 220/132/33 KV Sub-station. Power supply will be catered to Kolkata West International City (KWIC), - a joint venture of West Bengal Government and Salim & Ciputra Group of Indonesia, at Howrah. In addition, a few prestigious projects are coming up at Howrah, named M/s Mahabharat Motors Pvt. Ltd., at Uluberia, having demand 27 MVA and SEZ Infrastructure Developers Ltd., at Bagnan having demand of 40 MVA.
