It is expected that this will enable I&WD to release water in the MMC upto 220 cumecs for generation. it will be completed soon. Though all the units (9 in total) are ready for generation of power, but WBSEB was in a position to generate 20/ 22 MW in average during 2006-2007 due to taking MMC shutdown w.e.f. 01.04.06 to 31.07.06 (during 2006- 07) (actually MMC shutdown taken from 24.02.06 to 31.07.06) and again from 01.11..06 to 31.03.07 (during 2006-07 and continuing till date) and restricted supply of water (60-80 cusecs) in MMC. Inspite of restricted supply of water through MMC TCFHP was in a position to generate power to the tune of 846.44 MU since commencement of Commercial Operation till March, 2007. GENERAL POINT STAFF SET-UP : Construction phase of TCFHP is already over and with the winding up of construction set-up in phases, some personnel had already been diverted as per transfer order from time to time.Operational and Maintenance duty is being run with the existing set-up and the O&M set-up is under review for approval by the Board. However, the total strength of Staff and Officer is gradually decreasing. The present position of employees is given below : Sl. But this plant could hardly generate about 15/20% of the total capacity due to non-availability of water through MMC. The presence of floating and underwater trash and huge amount of sand and silt in canal water specially during monsoon when the release is a bit more, has been a recurring problem since commissioning. Some short-term measures have already been taken to overcome this problem. However, long term measures are being contemplated. RAMMAM HYDEL PROJECT, STAGE-II INTRODUCTION Rammam Hydel Project, Stage-II (4 × 12.75 MW) is a run-of-the river scheme located about 65 km. North – West of Darjeeling town and approx. 120 km. from Siliguri. In consideration to the very good generation performance of Rammam Stage-II for last few years, the Board decided to implement the “Lodhama Inter connection Scheme (LICS)” meant for interconnecting the Lodhoma River with the existing Rammam tunnel to utilize the water of the river Lodhoma for supplementing the generation in nonmonsoon months. After completion of this scheme, Rammam Stage-II is expected to generate additional 50-60 MU of power annually with the same existing generating units. LODHMA INTERCONNECTION SCHEME The work of Lodhoma Interconnection Scheme (LICS) is presently in progress through two packages viz (a) Construction of diversion structure and desilting basin and (b) Construction of Lodhoma power tunnel with financial assistance from M/s. Power Finance Corporation Ltd. vide Loan No. 5010-2001. After overcoming initial site problems regarding resentment of the local people, both the works are in progress and are scheduled to be completed within 2008. The revised estimated cost of the project has been proposed to be around Rs 48 crores including IDC. CIVIL MAINTENANCE Maintenance of the approach road to the project and the internal project and the internal project road, covering 70 km. (approx) has been undertaken in phases. Action has been taken to restore the damaged road bench near Panchayet Jhora on Forebay-Rammam Intake road in phases which is a recurring problem during monsoon. Short term measures have already been taken to restore the road link to Rammam Intake. A portion of the road bench has been restored recently. Routine maintenance of project colonies and project structures including Rammam Intake, Desilting Chamber, Forebay, and Penstock has been undertaken. Recurring leakage problem in power house roof, walls, machine foundation during monsoon period has been taken care of.
