HYDEL GENERATION<br />

The Hydel Wing is headed by one Chief Engineer with its Head Quarters at Siliguri having overall<br />

jurisdiction <strong>of</strong> construction, operation and maintenance <strong>of</strong> Hydel Power Stations, viz. Rammam Hydel<br />

Power Station (Stage-II) with 4 x 12.75 MW installed capacity, Jaldhaka Hydel Power Station<br />

Stage – I and II with 3 x 9 MW and 2 x 4 MW installed capacity and Teesta Canal Fall Hydel Project<br />

(3 x 3 x 7.5 = 67.5 MW) installed capacity and <strong>the</strong> activities <strong>of</strong> Survey and Investigation with administrative<br />

control over <strong>the</strong> set-up <strong>of</strong> Mini-Micro Hydel Cell.<br />

Status <strong>of</strong> work and o<strong>the</strong>r <strong>part</strong>iculars in respect <strong>of</strong> different Hydel Power Stations are given below :-<br />

MINI – MICRO HYDRO POWER PROJECT<br />

RAMMAM INTERMEDIATE STAGE (3×3 MW)<br />

<strong>WBSEB</strong> has sanctioned <strong>the</strong> DPR with project cost <strong>of</strong> Rs. 49.41 crores. <strong>WBSEB</strong> will execute <strong>the</strong> work<br />

with MNES and REC loan assistance. Tenders for different items <strong>of</strong> work will be floated during 2007-08.<br />

NAXAL HYDRO ELECTRIC PROJECT (3×200 KW)<br />

<strong>WBSEB</strong> is developing <strong>the</strong> Project as Deposit Work on behalf <strong>of</strong> WBREDA with MNES grant. Tender<br />

porcess is in finalisation stage. Revised Project cost is Rs. 6.42 Crores.<br />

PEDONG SMALL HYDEL PROJECT (3×1500 KW)<br />

Detailed Project Report is under preparation by <strong>WBSEB</strong> for Project implementation. Survey work has just<br />

been completed.<br />

MUNGPOO KALI-KHOLA HYDRO POWER STATION (3×1 MW)<br />

This small Hydro Project has been completed by <strong>WBSEB</strong> with fund assistance from MNES. Unit Nos.<br />

I, II and III have been commissioned on 16.10.2003, 14.04.2004 and 28.10.2003 respectively. The units<br />

are available for trouble-free operation subject to availability <strong>of</strong> water and grid <strong>power</strong>. The estimated cost<br />

for <strong>the</strong> project was Rs. 15.95 crores, revised to Rs. 26.09 crores. The expenditure incurred till March,<br />

2007 is Rs. 24.26 crores.<br />

SIDRAPONG HYDRO POWER STATION (3×200 KW)<br />

This is a heritage <strong>power</strong> station installed in 1897. Two Units i.e. Units No. I & III had been commissioned<br />

with <strong>the</strong> grid on 26.9.2002. Commissioning <strong>of</strong> Unit No. II is still in progress and is expected to be<br />

completed very shortly. 50% <strong>of</strong> balance Civil work <strong>of</strong> Penstock have been completed by March, 2007.<br />

The approved cost for <strong>the</strong> R&M work is Rs. 180.70 Lakhs and <strong>the</strong> expenditure incurred till March, 2007<br />

has been Rs. 233.56 Lakhs.<br />
