3.0. STATUS OF DIFFERENT RENOVATION, MODERNISATION AND LIFE EXTENSION PROGRAMME OF OLD HYDEL POWER STATIONS UNDER WBSEB. 3.01. JALDHAKA HYDEL PROJECT STAGE-I & II (3X9 MW + 2X4 MW) (RMU & AUGMENTATION SCHEME) Renovation & Modernisation works of the Jaldhaka Hydel Project Stage-I was envisaged along with addition of new units of 1x9 MW at Stage-I and 1x4 MW at Stage-II. Total estimated cost of the Jaldhaka (Stage-I) R & M Scheme is Rs. 5217 lakh, out of which PFC has sanctioned a loan amount of Rs. 3652 lakh. During the year 2006-07 major portion of the work related to Hydro Mechanical work, Lot-II package has been completed. The Letter of Awards for the inside and outside power house Electrical work, Lot-IV package and for the R & M of existing TG sets and auxiliaries, Lot-III package are already placed. A total expenditure of Rs. 922.379 lakh has been made upto 31 March 2006 for the R & M scheme of Jaldhaka Stage-I. The aggregated original estimated cost of the Stage-I & II Augmentation Scheme is Rs. 3311 lakh. Out of the estimated cost of Rs 1474 lakh for Stage-I Augmentation work, PFC had sanctioned a loan amount of Rs 1179 lakh in July 2005. The evaluation of Price bid for stage-I Augmentation (Lot-VA) package is in process. 3.02. LODHAMA INTERCONNECTION SCHEME (LICS) FOR AUGMENTATION OF RAMMAM HEP STAGE-II (4X12.75 MW) The work of the LICS scheme for tapping and diverting the Lodhama discharge to the common Forebay is under implementation in two packages :- 1. Construction of diversion structure and Desilting basin for Lodhama intake 2. Construction of tunnel for Lodhama interconnection Presently the work is under implementation with PFC loan. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 39.90 crore. PFC has sanctioned a loan of Rs. 19.95 crore. Upto 31 March 2007 almost 46% of the intake and Desilting Basin works and almost 95% of the Tunneling works are complete. A total expenditure of Rs. 2322.659 lakh has been made upto 31 March 2007 for the LICS. During the year 2006-07 an expenditure of Rs. 565.686 lakh has been incurred. Annual Report 2006-2007 19
HYDEL GENERATION The Hydel Wing is headed by one Chief Engineer with its Head Quarters at Siliguri having overall jurisdiction of construction, operation and maintenance of Hydel Power Stations, viz. Rammam Hydel Power Station (Stage-II) with 4 x 12.75 MW installed capacity, Jaldhaka Hydel Power Station Stage – I and II with 3 x 9 MW and 2 x 4 MW installed capacity and Teesta Canal Fall Hydel Project (3 x 3 x 7.5 = 67.5 MW) installed capacity and the activities of Survey and Investigation with administrative control over the set-up of Mini-Micro Hydel Cell. Status of work and other particulars in respect of different Hydel Power Stations are given below :- MINI – MICRO HYDRO POWER PROJECT RAMMAM INTERMEDIATE STAGE (3×3 MW) WBSEB has sanctioned the DPR with project cost of Rs. 49.41 crores. WBSEB will execute the work with MNES and REC loan assistance. Tenders for different items of work will be floated during 2007-08. NAXAL HYDRO ELECTRIC PROJECT (3×200 KW) WBSEB is developing the Project as Deposit Work on behalf of WBREDA with MNES grant. Tender porcess is in finalisation stage. Revised Project cost is Rs. 6.42 Crores. PEDONG SMALL HYDEL PROJECT (3×1500 KW) Detailed Project Report is under preparation by WBSEB for Project implementation. Survey work has just been completed. MUNGPOO KALI-KHOLA HYDRO POWER STATION (3×1 MW) This small Hydro Project has been completed by WBSEB with fund assistance from MNES. Unit Nos. I, II and III have been commissioned on 16.10.2003, 14.04.2004 and 28.10.2003 respectively. The units are available for trouble-free operation subject to availability of water and grid power. The estimated cost for the project was Rs. 15.95 crores, revised to Rs. 26.09 crores. The expenditure incurred till March, 2007 is Rs. 24.26 crores. SIDRAPONG HYDRO POWER STATION (3×200 KW) This is a heritage power station installed in 1897. Two Units i.e. Units No. I & III had been commissioned with the grid on 26.9.2002. Commissioning of Unit No. II is still in progress and is expected to be completed very shortly. 50% of balance Civil work of Penstock have been completed by March, 2007. The approved cost for the R&M work is Rs. 180.70 Lakhs and the expenditure incurred till March, 2007 has been Rs. 233.56 Lakhs. 20 Annual Report 2006-2007
