The construction of the 4.5 KM long Escape Channel from Ch. 22 KM at Dauk Nagar Main Canal to Doloncha
River will act as a bypass of the unfinished portion of the Dauk Nagar Main Canal. It is expected that this will
enable I&WD to release water in the MMC upto 220 cumecs for generation. it will be completed soon.
Though all the units (9 in total) are ready for generation of power, but WBSEB was in a position to generate 20/
22 MW in average during 2006-2007 due to taking MMC shutdown w.e.f. 01.04.06 to 31.07.06 (during 2006-
07) (actually MMC shutdown taken from 24.02.06 to 31.07.06) and again from 01.11..06 to 31.03.07 (during
2006-07 and continuing till date) and restricted supply of water (60-80 cusecs) in MMC.
Inspite of restricted supply of water through MMC TCFHP was in a position to generate power to the tune of
846.44 MU since commencement of Commercial Operation till March, 2007.
GENERAL POINT
STAFF SET-UP :
Construction phase of TCFHP is already over and with the winding up of construction set-up in phases, some
personnel had already been diverted as per transfer order from time to time.Operational and Maintenance
duty is being run with the existing set-up and the O&M set-up is under review for approval by the Board.
However, the total strength of Staff and Officer is gradually decreasing.

CONCLUSION
All the 9 units are available for generation with a total capacity of 67.5 MW. But this plant could hardly generate
about 15/20% of the total capacity due to non-availability of water through MMC. The presence of floating and
underwater trash and huge amount of sand and silt in canal water specially during monsoon when the release
is a bit more, has been a recurring problem since commissioning. Some short-term measures have already
been taken to overcome this problem. However, long term measures are being contemplated. Installation of
Automatic Trash Cleaning Devices was thought of and action is being taken for the same.
