HS Transverter Supplies Power P-491
For High Voltage Arcs
A new power supply unit designed for
use with the Mighty Ninety or Excelite
55.000 type lamps in drive-ins and large
theatres is announced by The Hertner
Electric Co.
Known as the HS Transverter, it incorporates
a new power conversion application
for the new type lamps and carbons,
as well as features of other Hertner models.
The HS is equipped with a 20 hp motor
operating at 1,750 rpm and a 75-volt
generator.
The transverter provides greater range
of flexibility and incorporates sufficient
amperage output rating for 115 amperes
with an ample capacity for 230 ampere
changeover. The power supply equipment
for the new lamps consists of the transverter
motor generator set, a control panel,
and a new HSD dual ballast rheostat with
5 to 51 volt range with 65 to 100 ampere
rating.
Fireproof Flexotile Flooring P-492
For Theatre Lobbies
Fireproof Flexotile flooring, suitable for
installation in theatre lobbies and auditoriums,
is announced by the Plexotile
Floor Co.
The flooring consists of a mixture of
colored marble chips, oxychloride cement
and tinted powders, and is smooth, jointless
and simple to clean. It is said by the
manufacturer to be strong, resilient and
permanent. It can be varied in thickness
to compensate for unevenness of the floor
upon which it is applied, is relatively light
in weight and requires no additional reinforcing.
Flexotile has a slightly clinging tread
which eliminates fear of slipping.
Available in a variety of colors, Flexotile
is installed in wet mortar form right over
present flooring or sub-flooring. It hardens
into flexible marble within four or five
hours after installation.
'Perpetual Motion' Afforded P-493
In New Kiddy Ride
A self-propelled merry-go-round which
a single child can operate without dismounting
is offered drive-in theatre playground
areas by the Ahrens Mfg. Co. The
"perpetual motion" feature of the ride,
which will accommodate more than 20 children
at a time, results from the tilted
center post of the unit which utilizes a
transfer of weight to keep it moving.
P^^rnished in two models, one six feet in
diameter and one 11 feet in diameter, the
Miracle Whirl ride is said to be maintenance-free
for five years with the exception
of paint.
Floors of both models are 14-gauge
steel plates, bolted to the center post assembly.
The assembly revolves on ballbearings.
Shipping weight of the large size
unit is less than 900 pounds and the junior
size, 250 pounds.
