Wisconsin Allied Holds
Meeting at Madison
MADISON. WIS- Some 75
members of the
AUipd Independent Theatre Owners of Wisconsin
met at the Loraine hotel here recently
for discussions of theatre industiy
problems.
Pi-e.sident S. J. Goldberg, Wau.sau. gave the
welcoming address. R. C. Salisbury, director
of safety of the local motor vehicle department,
was guest speaker and talked about
safety shows.
Ei-ic Brown. Plymouth, discussed "Small
Town Exploitation." Angelo Provinzano. Milwaukee,
talked on "Screening Reports," and
association Secretary Harold Pearson discu.ssed
"Performance Reports." A. M. LaPorte,
Milwaukee, discussed the "Importance of Employe
Goodwill," and Allied States Tieasurer
Ben Marcus, Oshkosh and Milwaukee, discussed
"Films."
Kenneth Sargent Builds
Broken Bow, Neb., Airer
BROKEN BOW. NEB.—Work will get under
way on the drive-in theatre east of town
soon, and it is planned to have the layout in
operation by June 1. Charles Sargent has announced
his brother Kenneth, who is starting
the theatre, is closing his operations in
Minnesota immediately to start the work. A
favorable slope of land will simplify grading
work and the principal work will be construction
of a road to the site.
Remodel FuUerton Royal
FULLERTON. NEB.—The Royal Theatre
has reopened after a short shutdown for remodeling.
A new floor was laid, more modern
seats installed, changes made in the inside
lobby and the seating system and the interior
completely redecorated. Mrs. Harlan Sirmett
was featured on the Hammond organ with
the reopening.

DES MOINES Two More Theatres

born to Jim and Jean Ricketts of Denver,
both formerly of Des Moines' Filmrow .
Jo Elliott. NSS, was married April 21 to Jack
Buchanan . Levy made a field trip to
Dubuque. Davenport. Muscatine, and other
Mi.ssi.ssippi river towns. He reported that all
the theatres in Muscatine were closed a few
days to keep people out of the downtown area
during the high water stage.

The third annual golf stag, sponsored by
Variety Club, will be held June 2 at Hyperion
club. Fee for the entire day, including the
evening dinner, is $5 ... M. E. Lee, Central
States, is vacationing in Hot Springs .

Des Moines children had a chance to be in
the parade promoting "Bronco Buster" here
recently. All youngsters in western attire who
rode bicycles in the parade received free
tickets to the premiere at the Paramount
Theatre. Also in the parade lineup were
three bands, members of the Flying Arrow,
Ridin' Hi, Four-Mile and Town and Country
Saddle clubs.
Merchants to Resume Shows
KIMBALLTON, IOWA—Kimballton merchants
are planning to resume film showings
twice weekly at the town hall. Shows will be

Reopen Clarence, Iowa, State
CLARENCE, IOWA—The State Theatre
here, which has been closed for a month during
redecoration and cleaning, was to reopen
May 2.
