19.2.7.1 Pliers<br />

Pliers are namely ordinary needle nose <strong>and</strong> special type. Fig 19.52(a) shows a long nose<br />

pliers <strong>and</strong> Fig. 19.52(b) shows a combination pliers. These are commonly used by fitter <strong>and</strong><br />

electrician for holding a variety of jobs.<br />

19.2.7.2 Screw driver<br />

Screw driver is a screw tightening <strong>to</strong>ol. The most commonly used st<strong>and</strong>ard screw driver<br />

with its parts is shown in Fig 19.53. It is generally used by h<strong>and</strong> for tightening the screws.<br />

It is also of various types depending upon the kind of work.<br />

19.2.7.3 Wrenches<br />

Wrenches are commonly known as spanners. These generally come in sets <strong>and</strong> are<br />

commonly identified by numbers. These are of various types <strong>and</strong> few general types involve<br />

open single ended, open double ended, closed ended adjustable, ring spanner, offset socket,<br />

t-socket, box wrench, pipe wrench <strong>and</strong> Allen wrench.<br />

19.3 OPERATIONS PERFORMED IN FITTING WORK<br />

The operations commonly performed in bench <strong>and</strong> fitting work may be classified as<br />

under.<br />

1. Marking 2. Chipping<br />

3. Filing 4. Scrapping<br />

5. Sawing 6. Drilling<br />

7. Reaming 8. Tapping<br />

9. Grinding <strong>and</strong> 10. Polishing<br />
