issued by RMSD or MSD. Similarly if the MSD has excessive stocks <strong>of</strong><br />

certain items which can be used by the instituti<strong>on</strong>s, the MSD may<br />

distribute such items irrespective <strong>of</strong> the estimate, to the instituti<strong>on</strong>s with<br />

their c<strong>on</strong>sent, in order to prevent wastage.<br />

(b) Stock c<strong>on</strong>trol and distributi<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> cold store items<br />

Supply <strong>of</strong> Anti Rabies Vaccine and Anti Rabies Serum should strictly be<br />

d<strong>on</strong>e <strong>on</strong> m<strong>on</strong>thly returns and request forms (see Annexure - IV) and copy<br />

<strong>of</strong> the same should be sent to Director/ Public Health Veterinary Service<br />

(D/PHVS), O i/c, Vaccine M<strong>on</strong>itoring Centre, Medical Research Institute<br />

and the Epidemiologist.<br />

Officer requesting cold stores items should ensure that adequate cold<br />

storage space and cold chain transport facilities are available to transport and<br />

store the quantity requested.<br />

A Pharmacist or Oi/c RMSD should pers<strong>on</strong>ally take over the stock from<br />

issuing stores <strong>of</strong> MSD. Officer collecting such cold storage stock is fully<br />

resp<strong>on</strong>sible for c<strong>on</strong>tinued maintenance <strong>of</strong> the cold chain and preventi<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

exposure <strong>of</strong> stocks to inappropriate storage c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

7. With regard to indenting <strong>of</strong> narcotics and medical gases the guidelines in<br />

Chapter 7 are applicable.<br />

8. When <strong>drugs</strong> are received,<br />

(a) at the MSD , the stocks are checked for compliance with the indent<br />

with regard to specificati<strong>on</strong>s, quantity, c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s for supply and other<br />

informati<strong>on</strong> against the supplier’s invoice.<br />

(b) at the RMSD or Line Ministry Instituti<strong>on</strong>s, the<br />

(i) SR number and item<br />

(ii) Quantity<br />

(iii) Expiry date<br />

(iv) Batch number<br />

are checked against the Stock Transfer Voucher (STV). If<br />

there are any damages, shortages or any other discrepancies<br />

detected, it should be brought to the notice <strong>of</strong> the Head <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Instituti<strong>on</strong> through Chief Pharmacist in case <strong>of</strong> hospitals and to the<br />

RDHS in case <strong>of</strong> RMSD, within 24 hours. The RDHS/Head <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Instituti<strong>on</strong> should take acti<strong>on</strong> to check the entire c<strong>on</strong>signment by a<br />
