2.2 Minor exposure:<br />
a. Single, superficial bite or scratch <strong>on</strong> the lower limbs (excluding tips <strong>of</strong> toes)<br />
upper<br />
limbs (excluding upper arms, palms and tips <strong>of</strong> fingers) abdomen and back.<br />
b. Nibbling <strong>of</strong> uncovered skin.<br />
c. C<strong>on</strong>taminati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> open wounds with saliva.<br />
d. Drinking raw milk <strong>of</strong> rabid cow or goat.<br />
3.0 Screening the animal<br />
3.1 In case <strong>of</strong> major exposures to dogs and cats:<br />
3.1.1 If the animal is apparently healthy, observable and has had a minimum<br />
<strong>of</strong> 2 rabies vaccinati<strong>on</strong>s, with the last vaccinati<strong>on</strong> given within 1 year <strong>of</strong> the<br />
incident PET can be delayed while observing the animal for 14 days.<br />
3.1.2 When the animal is suspicious or sick, but observable initiate PET while<br />
observing the animal. Disc<strong>on</strong>tinue treatment if the animal is apparently<br />
healthy after 14 days.<br />
3.1.3 If the animal is having rabies (c<strong>on</strong>firmed by laboratory diagnosis) or<br />
unobservable (animal dead, killed, missing or stray animal) initiate PET and<br />
c<strong>on</strong>tinue the full course.<br />
3.2. In case <strong>of</strong> minor exposures to dogs and cats:<br />
3.2.1 If the animal is apparently healthy, observable and has had a minimum<br />
<strong>of</strong> 1 rabies vaccinati<strong>on</strong>.<br />
- within I year <strong>of</strong> the incident.<br />
- at an age above 3 m<strong>on</strong>ths.<br />
- incident occurring at least I m<strong>on</strong>th after the vaccinati<strong>on</strong>.<br />
PET can be delayed while observing the animal for 14 days.<br />
3.2.2 When the animal is suspicious or sick, but observable, initiate PET<br />
while observing the animal. Disc<strong>on</strong>tinue PET if the animal is healthy after 14<br />
days.<br />
3.2.3 If the animal is having rabies (c<strong>on</strong>firmed by laboratory diagnosis) or<br />
