Main functi<strong>on</strong>s <strong>of</strong> Medical Supplies Divisi<strong>on</strong><br />

1. Receiving and c<strong>on</strong>solidating <strong>of</strong> annual estimates to analyse and forecast nati<strong>on</strong>al<br />

annual requirements <strong>of</strong> <strong>drugs</strong>, surgical items and laboratory items (medical supplies).<br />

2. Preparing indents for requirements <strong>of</strong> medical supplies and forwarding same to<br />

SPC for procurement and supply.<br />

3. M<strong>on</strong>itoring process <strong>of</strong> orders placed with SPC in order to ensure proper delivery .<br />

4. Receiving c<strong>on</strong>signments <strong>of</strong> items ordered from SPC and storing <strong>of</strong> same.<br />

5. Distributi<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> medical supplies to RMSD/ Instituti<strong>on</strong>s according to a programme.<br />

6. Analysing periodically stock availability and performance <strong>of</strong> supply and<br />

distributi<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> medical supplies.<br />

7. Collecting, c<strong>on</strong>solidating and analyzing the informati<strong>on</strong> received from the<br />

instituti<strong>on</strong>s relevant to medical supplies, locally purchased at the instituti<strong>on</strong>al level.<br />

8. Revisi<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> annual estimate books <strong>of</strong> medical supplies with assistance <strong>of</strong><br />

Collages/Associati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> medical c<strong>on</strong>sultants and other relevant experts.<br />

9. Functi<strong>on</strong>s relevant to quality assurance activities<br />

10. Corresp<strong>on</strong>dence with instituti<strong>on</strong>s regarding complaints, reports, performance, and<br />

re-distributi<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> excess/short shelf life items.<br />

11. Maintenance <strong>of</strong> an efficient medical supplies <strong>management</strong> system with<br />

computerized facilities.<br />

12. Coordinating and c<strong>on</strong>ducting in-service training for the staff.<br />

13. Visiting instituti<strong>on</strong>s/Divisi<strong>on</strong>s to m<strong>on</strong>itor and co-ordinate/participate at Drug<br />

Review meeting activities relating to medical supplies <strong>management</strong> in respective<br />

instituti<strong>on</strong>s/divisi<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

14. Support, review, revise and disseminate rules, regulati<strong>on</strong>s and procedures to<br />

ensure scientific <strong>management</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>drugs</strong>.<br />
