The silence that surrounds the first farm in Matkov Kot, lying in a sunny meadow
in the midst of mountain pastures and with a magnificent view of Matkov Kot and
Mrzla Gora, is marvellously complemented by the sounds of a zither coming from
the farmhouse. The Gradišnik Farm still exudes the atmosphere of an age that many
have forgotten, while keeping one foot in the present. Your hosts on the farm are
well-versed in the cuisine of the Upper Savinja Valley, which includes specialities
such as stuffed pig's stomach, goulash and mushroom soup. Farm produce available
to buy includes hand-knitted woollen socks, St John's wort oil and freshly laid eggs.
Families with children are welcome and the farm has its own children's playground.
Pets are also welcome. Bows and arrows are available for hire and archery lessons
are available. Toboggans are available in winter. The farm is an excellent base for
mountaineering enthusiasts. Nearby peaks include Raduha, Ojstrica, Planjava,
Mrzla Gora and Okrešelj. Group activities include visits to the poacher's hut and
a walk with the poacher, and visitors can also take part in excursions organised in
conjunction with Logarska dolina d.o.o.
open to guests:
1. 1. - 31. 12.
The Matk farm is located in a small, hidden valley of Matkov kot, in the heart of
the Savinjske Alps, at the altitude of 1165 meters. Its owners respect traditional
farming methods since they are aware that it is the only way to preserve the
beautiful landscape they have inherited from their ancestors. Your hostess Mici, is
an excellent cook who continues to preserve rich local culinary tradition. As a good
connoisseur of herbs, she uses them skillfully in all her delicious dishes as well as in
brandies and teas that are especially appreciated in the colder months of the year,
but also when returning from a hike in the nearby mountains. A holiday on the
farm is a special experience for families with children. Kids can spend every day in
the company of various animals: cats, a dog, a donkey, sheep, and in direct contact
with nature. In the immediate vicinity of the farm you will find many nice places to
enjoy a walk. The area is also ideal for those who like mountain biking and hunting.
Sledding on snow-covered slopes is great fun in winter… Of course, there are many
more attractions nearby that you will discover during your stay on the farm.
open to guests:
1. 1. - 31. 12.
Farms situated as high as the Perk farm is above Logarska dolina have the
mountains in the palm of their hand. There is plenty of fresh air and peace in
abundance. Here you can spend a very active holiday or simply relax and enjoy
the singing of birds and the silence of the mountain forests. The food on the
farm is all produced at home: vegetables, meat, and dairy products. They serve
meals typical for the region, including delicious dried meat products, of course,
and the hostess makes dumplings and žlikrofi, all served homemade juices.
Everyone who decides to spend a vacation in the Logarska dolina area does so
because of the fresh air and the hiking, whether just a few steps from the farm
or to make your way with a knapsack on foot or by bicycle into the heart of the
Alps. In winter guests go skiing or sledging.
open to guests:
15. 4. - 15.10. (other terms by arrangement)
The Žibovt farm lies just three kilometers from the Pavličevo sedlo border
crossing beside a panoramic road in the middle of meadows close to a forest with
a wonderful view of the Savinjske Alps. The farmstead includes a new house built
in the characteristic rural style of the area, an older house and farm outbuildings,
a fruit dryer, a stone mill, and an old water-driven saw mill. An enormous old
pear tree flourishes in the courtyard. The Poličniks are organic farmers, and
everything they bring to the table is home grown. There is plenty of milk, so
they also sell homemade cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, and sour milk. Guests
in search of peace and closeness to nature can enjoy both in good measure, both
those who are happy with a stroll in the immediate vicinity of the farm and those
who put on hiking boots and a knapsack to spend a day in the mountains.
