On the outskirts of the town of Mežica, in the land of the legendary king Matjaž, you
will find an excursion farm that will delight its guests by offering a wonderful view
of the town and of Mount Peca. Delicious aromas that waft from the kitchen every
weekend testify that your hostess still prepares various dishes according to timetested
traditional recipes. Buckwheat žganci (groats), štruklji, suckling pig roasted in
the bread oven, various meat products... that is just a small part of their rich culinary
offer that also includes vegetarian dishes. Children can play in the playground or get
to know farm animals (cat, dog…). If you want, you can take an underground ride
by bike or mine railway in the former lead and zinc mine in Mežica. Hikers can head
to the nearby peaks: Peca, Olševa, Smrekovec, Raduha... And finally, don't forget to
visit the kingdom of the legendary sleeping king Matjaž.

The Ploder farm is located in the village of Šentanel, which has won the title
of most beautiful small tourist site in Slovenia for several years running. The
Kumprejs spoil their guests with homemade dried meat delicacies, dairy
products, all sorts of ciders, brandies, and dried fruit, plum and pear štruklji, and
freshly baked rye bread. Koroška is fun in summer and in winter. The skiing is
good, ranging from the easy slopes of Ravne to the medium difficult at Ošven
below Mount Uršlja Gora and the more difficult slopes in Črna na Koroškem.
Črna also boasts a mountain biking center. In the spring, summer, and autumn,
there are endless hiking possibilities, you can gather mushrooms in the forests
or visit the farming museum on the Dvornikova Domačija farm, the Koroška
Museum in Ravne, the mining museum in Mežica, and the house where the
famous Slovene author Prežihov Voranc was born.

The Marin-Miler Tourist Farm is located in the middle of a village with a beautiful
view of the valley, the cliffs on the north side of Mount Peca, and Mount Uršlja
gora, Mount Raduha, Obir, Podjuna, and the Pohorje mountains. You will spend
the night in a real farmhouse and dine on genuine Koroška meat specialties in
their gostilna (inn). The house specialties include lamb and homemade dried
fruit štruklji. You will also be offered homemade jams and juices from their
orchard. If you wish, you can also rent the tent for your own celebration. Guests
who want to spend their vacation actively will be happy to hear that the farm
organizes excursions to the “Kingdom of Kralj Matjaž” on Mount Peca, Snežna
jama Cave on Mount Raduha, Potočka Zijalka on Mount Olševa, and to Ivarčko
jezero Lake. They also recommend a visit to the birthplace of the Slovene writer
Prežihov Voranc and a tour of the lead and zinc mine in Mežica.

At an altitude of eight hundred meters in the settlement of Jamnica, guests
can enjoy complete peace in clean air on the “Mikl” Tourist Farm, a typical
Koroška farm that is almost a village in itself. The farmhouse is surrounded
by outbuildings, around them spread meadows and cultivated fields, and
everything is encircled by pine forests. They farm in a healthy manner that is
kind to animals and nature. They also have a certificate for organic farming
and processing farm produce. Two apartments are arranged for guests who can
choose to prepare their own meals or eat with the host family. The sixty-squaremeter
apartments contain a bathroom, kitchen-living room, and two separate
bedrooms (additional beds can be provided) and are furnished with all the
necessities for a comfortable stay (television, bedding, towels, kitchen utensils
and dishes, etc.). The farm has a beehouse and a fishpond where you can fish
or skate in winter. In the yard are a volleyball court and a children’s playground
(sandbox, swings, slide). Guests can also hike in the surrounding area and in the
nearby mountains of Peca, Uršlja gora, and Raduha.
