In the village of Dolenja Vas, the Strajnar family farm is situated by a clear
murmuring stream in a green meadow at the edge of a forest–in short, an idyllic
setting. In her own kitchen, hostess prepares various kinds of cottage cheese,
walnut, and Dolenjska-style štruklji, as well as delicious trout from the nearby
fish farm. Of course she also offers homemade beef, lamb or veal prepared
from various recipes. The Obolnar farm is a favourite spot for athletes who can
carry out their training programs or play volleyball in the peaceful setting there
and then cool off with a dip in the pool. Nearby are the Church of Mary with
its memorial to F. I. Baraga, the Slovene bishop and missionary to the North
American Indians; Trebnje Castle, which is built on Roman foundations dating
back to the year 1000. In Trebnje is also sport hall.

In the valley of Temenica river, surrounded by winegrowing hills of Dolenjska, you
will find the Pri Fajdigat farm, alongside the road Radohova vas – Bogenšperk – Litija.
The farm can receive bigger groups of people (up to 60 people) for various special
occasions (upon previous arrangement) and organize wedding receptions. Guests of
such festive events are received under the old kozolec (hay barn). In summer, you
can also spend the night in it and experience what it was like to sleep on hay in the
old days. In autumn, the main event is grape harvesting. Nearby sights include the
Bogenšperk castle – a popular venue for weddings, Stična monastery, the pilgrimage
church in Zaplaz, Jurčič homestead, Krka river valley and more. All year round the
farm offers homemade Slovenian food. In autumn and winter there are also various
pork specialties and sausages, cured meat products, žganci, sauerkraut, cracklings and
other hearty dishes. There is also excellent cviček (typical local wine) from the farm's
vineyard. If you want to visit the farm and taste all these wonderful things, please
note that it receives guests during the weekend, from Friday afternoon to Sunday
night, while during the week it will open its door upon previous arrangement.

Pristava nad Stično is a well-known outing spot and the ideal place to go if you
love untouched natural surroundings and breathtaking views. The fare at the
Okrorn excursion farm is excellent and after rambling in the countryside, you can
sit down to meals of buckwheat žganci (groats) with sauerkraut, pork cracklings,
chicken stew, or milk, a variety of homemade dried meats and sausages, and
traditional homemade pastries for dessert. The farm is surrounded by wellmarked
hiking trails, and not far away are the Šmarješke Toplice and Dolenjske
Toplice health resorts and the Krška jama cave. The church of Sv. Lambert is in
nearby Pristava, where once stood a castle in which lived the Duchess Virida
Viseonti, mother of Ernest Železnega, the last Carinthian duke to be inaugurated
according to the traditional ancient rites on the Duke's Throne in Maria Saal/
Gospa Sveta. Other cultural sites include Bogenšperk Castle and the Stična
monastery, and if you are here in June, you can enjoy the Cultural Week of
Šentvid pri Stični.

The Grofija Tourist farm is situated on a small hill at the end of a private road.
They have enough room to host a busload of tourists, and some can also spend
the night here. Guests are offered dishes made with horsemeat and venison,
homemade sausages, štruklji, buckwheat žganci, potica, homemade strudel, and
juniper and other brandies. At the farm their guests can also see the pen for
deer, decorative poultry, horses, and goats. Even the farm’s location is famous
since it is situated on a “cvinger,” the courtyard of an ancient dwelling from the
8th century B.C. Nearby are the Stična Monastery and religious museum, the
Lavričeva koča Cottage, the Jurčič Homestead in Muljava, the source of the Krka
River and the Krška jama Cave, the Kosce Waterfalls, the Zupanova (Taborska)
jama Cave, Radensko polje, and Bogenšperk Castle. Guests can also go swimming
at the nearby Dolenjske Toplice and Šmarješke Toplice thermal spas.
