T S K G Q V R O T S V R K G O Q The Podpečan farm, located between the towns of Žalec and Celje, in the village of Galicija, has a 250-year old tradition. A holiday with the Podpečan family, three generations of which are currently living on the farm and which is well known for their excellent cheese and dairy products, is a good choice for all those who wish to spend a few days in harmony with nature. Guests can stay in rooms furbished in the countryside style, discover the variety of flavours of different cheeses (cheese with coal, young cheese with smoked trout, cottage cheese balls with herbs in sunflower seed oil…) or relax in the nicely equipped wellness corner. The hosts will be happy to welcome each and every guest and to show them their farm. The cheese dairy facilities are located in an old farm building called marof; it is here that the Podpečans make their cheese from fresh cow's milk from their farm. If you want, you can go on a guided tour of the cheese dairy, the culmination if which is cheese tasting in a special tasting room. Nearby tourist attractions include the towns of Žalec and Celje, boasting the most majestic castle in Slovenia (Celje Old Castle), Vrbje ponds, Šmartinsko Lake, which can be visited on foot, by bike or by car. T S E Q E J I This farm is situated in the beautiful little village of Razgor and its hilltop location means that it offers a wonderful view of Celje and the surrounding area. The farm kitchen serves up a varied and interesting range of dishes, including vegetarian dishes. The Slemenšeks are famous for their excellent cured meat products. The farm welcome families with children. Pets are also welcome and may stay with their owners in their rooms. Children can play in the children's playground, help with the corn-husking or simply enjoy themselves in natural surroundings and with the farm's animals: the dogs Piki and Charlie, the cats Tačke (Paws) and Cita, the mare Linda and her foal Pikica. The farm is an excellent base from which to visit the nearby Kaja & Grom Ranch. Those interested in discovering the secrets of medieval castles will enjoy a visit to the Old Castle in Celje. Visit the Carthusian monastery in Žice and learn about the life of the monks there. And if you like water and massages, a visit to a nearby spa (Terme Dobrna) is an excellent choice. open to guests: 1. 1. - 31. 12. (by arrangement) T U K G Q S U E V C J I R B W P Q This ancient farm lies on the river Hudinja and on the stream that sends water to the wheels of the mill and the "Venetian" sawmill. Guests and visitors can see the mill and sawmill in operation as the farmer explains how this old machinery works and tells them about his farm and how grain is turned into bread. A whole range of milled products are available to buy in the mill. The apartments for guests exude homeliness and hospitality. The surrounding area is famous for its numerous religious and cultural monuments and the countryside is ideal for walks, hillwalking tours and a good place to observe botanical and geological curiosities. The farm is very close to the famous thermal spas of Dobrna, Laško and Zreče, which offer a wide range of therapies, recreation and entertainment. Skiing is possible in the neighbouring village or at the Rogla ski centre. The nearby Šmartensko Jezero (St Martin's Lake) offers many opportunities for recreation and also for fishing. The nearby city of Celje has a rich and diverse heritage and offers museums, cultural events and entertainment, international trade fairs and more. (Mon.-Sun., by arrangement for groups also on weekdays) N T O V E S C M G R J I The Goršek farm is located in the village of Lipa, just a stone's throw from the main Celje-Slovenske Konjice road and far from the noise of city life. After you have used your last drop of energy swimming at the Zreče Thermal Spa or skiing down the slopes of Rogla, your hostess Hilda, an excellent cook, will charm you with her cooking magic. Her delicious bread, prepared according to her grandmothers' recipe in the traditional bread oven, is famous far and wide. You will be delighted with her štruklji, potica, and horseradish prepared according to a special recipe, and you will also enjoy their delicious homemade cold cuts, which go well with a glass of homemade brandy. The Goršek family will happily invite you to participate in husking corn, picking grapes, or preparing sausages. If you want to learn the secrets of cooking, hostess Hilda will give you cooking lessons. From the farm, hikers can set out for Mount Konjiška gora, Mount Mala gora, Špičasti vrh, the nearby church on the Gojka hill, or the castle at Lindek.

T G O M T S U V C N J I R G P O M Q In the middle of Stranice, next to the church and a chapel and not far from the forest, is the Arzenšek farm. This is a genuine farm with horses, cows, pigs, dogs, cats, chickens, and bees. It's a real little zoo that city children marvel at, and the farm is especially full in summer with returning guests. Meat, milk, and vegetables are produced on the farm, the bread is homemade, and everything is complemented with homemade wine and blackberry brandy. The pumpkins are a specialty: in compotes, stewed, roasted, in pies . . . With so many animals, there is always enough work to join in on the farm. Not far away are the swimming pools of the Zreče Health Resort, there are numerous trails through the forests below Pohorje, and the ski slopes of Rogla are only 19 kilometers away. Guests can borrow fishing gear at the farm, and the catch prepared later with the help of the hostess. open to guests: 1. 1. - 31. 12. T N R G O M Q S U E V C J I H F A In the embrace of the green Pohorje mountains, the Urška Tourist Farm (named after the daughter of the family) sits on a small hill beside a forest. The awards and praises testifying that the farm is the best of the best are proven true by the Topolšek family, who become one with the guests who always fill the house. The food prepared by Vilma is simply enchanting: her numerous types of bread (rye, crackling, fruit, etc.), dried meat and dairy products, soups and vegetables, preserved fruits and vegetables, jams, desserts . . . just melt in your mouth. They serve vegetarian, macrobiotic, and diet food that can be accompanied by white, red, and ice wines from their cellar or a wide variety of homemade juices. The farm is a place where you may relax and gather new energy in the house of wellbeing unwinding in the saunas, Jacuzzi or hay bath. Upon arrival, Luks the dog is there to greet you and accompany guests around the area. There are also cats, rabbits, sheep and goats and children never want to leave the animals. Guests may rent a bike or linger a while with farmer Tone in his wine cellar. Zreče, Rogla and the rest of Pohorje keep guests busy bathing, hiking and picking forest fruits, while there are opportunities for skiing in winter. open to guests: 1. 1. - 31. 12. T N L G O M A S U E V C J I R H F Q P On the southern, always sunny side of the Pohorje mountain range on the edge of a small idyllic village you will find the Arbajter farm. The house stands in middle of a deer and sheep farm at an altitude of 970 meters and has a beautiful view of the Dravinja River Valley. Venison and lamb dishes served with bread prepared in the open oven are a specialty of the Arbajter farm. The bread goes well too with venison goulash prepared in a kettle in the open air. They also have delicious blueberry brandy, homemade venison salami, pršut (prosciutto), and štruklji and other desserts. Vegetarian food is served as well, and diet menus can be arranged. Son Andrej will bring a smile to your face when he stretches his accordion. The farm offers many possibilities for family and school excursions. If you want a peaceful break, a rest in the tranquility of nature, hikes past Pohorje springs, wintertime skiing on snowy Rogla Mountain, and swimming at the Zreče Thermal Spa, then a visit to the Arbajter farm is the right choice. open to guests: 1. 1. - 31. 12. (by arrangement) T N G O S U E V C J I R P H F A Q On the sunny southern side of the Pohorje massif lies the little village of Skomarje and, four kilometres away, the Ločnikar Farm. The Ločnikar farmhouse is over 400 years old and conserves all the original rustic architecture. In 2001 the farm became a member of the European "Houses of Tradition" network. Guests on the farm can help prepare food (baking bread or roasting lamb in the wood-fired oven) or see how štruklji (savoury strudels), potica (nut roll), apple pie and Pohorje omelette are made. They can sip a glass of home-made bilberry liqueur, taste home-cured salami or bunka (smoked and dry-cured pork), eat home-made cheese and skuta and… drink natural fruit juice. This organic farm offers all this and more. The Pohorje massif is a paradise for hikers. Sights in the village include the poet Jurij Vodovnik's birthplace and his memorial in the cemetery, the church of St Lambert and the new Jurij Vodovnik Museum. If you feel like a swim you can head for Terme Zreče, a spa resort situated just 8 kilometres from the farm. The Rogla climatic spa (in winter Rogla is a famous ski resort) is just 10 kilometres away. Other nearby attractions include the virgin forest of Šumik, Črno Jezero (the Black Lake), the Lovrenc Lakes, Brinjeva Gora, etc. 35
