This farm, where your hosts will be the seven members of the Nemec family, lies on a hill
above the village of Sedraž, surrounded by meadows and with a wonderful view of the
Zasavje Hills. If you enjoy delicious home-made food, the Nemec Farm is the right place.
The spread they put on for their guests consists of one speciality after another: beef broth
with home-made noodles, Štajerska-style soup, roast chicken, a variety of meat roulades,
veal stew with buckwheat polenta, savoury strudels, home-made sausages, dishes filled
with home-made cream and much more. Families with children are very welcome on the
farm and babysitting can be arranged if parents want to make a longer expedition into the
nearby hills. The women of the family will be happy to let you into the secrets of the local
cuisine, while the farmer will accompany you to the barn, where you can try your hand at
various chores. Those who enjoy social gatherings are invited to visit the farm at the time
of the traditional Beer and Flowers event which takes place in nearby Laško. Hikers and
hillwalkers can climb Kal, Mrzlica, Kopitnik, Kum and Šmohor. Those who enjoy swimming
and bathing can visit the nearby spas in Laško and Rimske Toplice. Your hosts will be happy
to accompany you on a tour of their native area.

The Rotovnik farmhouse is over 250 years old and is adorned by a vine that is
just eighty years younger. At this excursion farm, live accordion music frequently
adds a lively spirit to the meals. They offer excellent dried meat items, meat
dishes from pork and beef, mushroom soup and buckwheat žganci (groats),
various types of štruklji, dishes made from sauerkraut and fresh cabbage, potica,
and wine. Many of the guests come from visiting points of interest in this part
of the Savinja Valley such as the Pekel Cave where bones of a Neanderthal man
were found or the Roman necropolis in nearby Šempeter.

The Apat Farm is situated on a hill above Gaberke, between Šoštanj and Velenje,
and offers a marvellous view of the valley, Lake Šoštanj, Gora Oljka, Smrekovec,
Uršlja Gora, etc. Your hosts endeavour to ensure that the table is spread with as
many local and home-made specialities as possible. During your visit you will
have the chance to sample: minced lard, bread from the bread oven, home-made
sausages, savoury strudels, sour soup and, for vegetarians, various vegetable
soufflés, salads and more besides. Nada, the mistress of the house, will also be
happy to offer you the house speciality – Nada's pastries. The farm is suitable
for families with children. The farm makes a good base for visits to local spas
(Topolšica or Dobrna), the Velenje Tourism and Recreation Centre and Horse
Riding Club and the Coal Mining Museum. Golte, Uršlja Gora, Gora Oljka, Paški
Kozjak and Smrekovec are among the popular hiking destinations in the area.

This farm, which is run by a young family of five, is hard to miss. Their new
house stands by itself in the middle of a forest surrounded by meadows and
pastures with a beautiful view over the Šaleška Valley. The hostess prides herself
on her mushroom soup and pampers her guests with apple strudels, homebaked
bread, and buckwheat žganci. Along with delicious home-baked bread you
can also buy juice, apple cider, and blueberry brandy at the farm. The members
of the young family like singing, and they will teach you to play the accordion or
the double bass. In the wintertime you can stretch on the classic ceramic heating
stove. Those who enjoy walking will head out to Mount Kozjak, Vinska gora, and
other places. Also nearby are the Dobrna and Topolšica thermal spas, and tennis
enthusiasts will be pleased to hear that there is a tennis court only ten minutes
away from the farm.
