Among the vineyards just a few kilometres from Maribor is the Joannes Protner
House. We offer typical local dishes to accompany wine by the carafe or bottle.
Cold dishes include home-cured meat products, pâté and various spreads. Hot
dishes include mushroom soup, sour soup, grits and porridge of various kinds,
home-made sausages, black pudding and meat braised in wine. To end with, you
can try kvasenica, a kind of sweet bread from the bread oven. On the farm you
can also visit the 250-year-old wine cellar, where we organise tastings of our
premium wines, which are also available to buy. The surrounding area contains
many footpaths, cycling trails and great views.

A visit to the farm Pri Bračkotu, run by two generations of the Bračko family, is
a special experience also because the owners are very familiar with countryside
traditions and keep them to this day. The farm is known for its delicious food and
for making excellent wines. The hostess always prepares menus in accordance
with the season, thus offering her guests a rich variety of different flavours.
Mushroom soup with buckwheat žganci (groats), homemade meat products
and sausages, delicious gibanica (a type of cake)… that's just a small part of their
rich culinary offer. The farm is children-friendly. There are children's highchairs
available and healthy and nutritious meals are served. Children will especially
enjoy spending time with the farms dogs, Laki and Ajka, who love children and
are happy to do all sorts of tricks for them. If you're looking for active holidays,
don't miss grape picking, which is a special experience at the Bračkos. The farm
is an excellent starting point for visiting Maribor, Terme Fontana and the well
known sports and recreational center Pohorje, a popular year-round destination.

The Protner Tourist Farm is situated in the hilly region of Slovenske Gorice,
which is famous for its fertile vineyards and orchards. When you wake up in
the morning, you will feel like you are joined together with the Drava Valley,
the Pohorje, Kope, and Donačka gora mountains, and the Pesnica Valley. And,
since vineyards surround the farm, you can even pick a handful of grapes right
through your window. The Protners are famous for their organically-produced
fruit, grapes, and wine, which always impress fans of healthy food. Their kitchen
specialties include meats from the lard barrel, venison salami, boiled sausage, and
gibanica. Since their main occupation is winegrowing and making wine, there is
no reason to leave the farm thirsty. If you wish, you can buy wine, fruit, brandy,
and venison salami. Your first adventure can take place right on the farm, when
you are invited to see the herd of fallow deer. If you want, you can participate in
the grape harvest or in making sausages in season. You can find several beautiful
churches nearby, and it is also pleasant to visit the city of Maribor or go skiing on
the snowy slopes of the Pohorje mountains.

You will reach the Dreisiebner tourist farm by a picturesque heart-shaped road winding
among vineyards. The farm offers a beautiful view of the surrounding area and is located in
the immediate vicinity of the Austrian border, on the borderland panoramic and hiking trail
across the rolling hills of Svečina. The farm offers various homemade dishes, cold cuts with
homemade cured meat products, including venison salami, cottage cheese and walnut gibanica
(a kind of cake), potica, fruit bread baked in the bread oven and, upon previous arrangement,
different warm dishes as well. The owners can also organize wine tasting in their 300-yearold
cellar with arched ceilings. They produce the following wine varieties: kerner, traminec
(Gewürztraminer), laški riesling, rumeni muškat (Yellow Muscat), Sauvignon, Chardonnay,
Pinot Gris, Rhine Riesling, Pinot Blanc. Children will have a lot of fun playing with the farmyard
animals that include cats, a dog, goats, pigs and rabbits. Places of interest in the vicinity include
the Kebl winegrowing museum, Maribor with the oldest grape vine in the world on Lent and
the swimming pools of Terme Maribor, while the Pohorje mountain range is great for hiking
in summer and skiing in winter. Autumn is a good time to visit the wine roads in the area,
including the one right across the border in Austria.
