The hundred-year-old Ferencovi Farm stands by the man-made Lake Ledava in the<br />
Prekmurje region. The Ferencovi family are famous for their crêpe paper flowers.<br />
Groups can book demonstrations of braiding with plant fibres and thatching with<br />
straw. The farm also has a museum of agricultural machinery and implements.<br />
And great cooking. You can try crackling cake, posolanka (pastry spread with sour<br />
cream), various dishes made using corn flour, and of course the famous prekmurska<br />
gibanica layer cake, for which the Ferences hold a certificate and have won several<br />
medals. They also make various fruit aperitifs and jams and wine from their own<br />
vineyard. The interesting landscape of Prekmurje and the rich cultural heritage offer<br />
plenty of opportunities for excursions, and the lake is ideal for water sports. You can<br />
visit mineral water springs, the largest castle in Slovenia, the triple border marker,<br />
a forest nature trail or one of many walking trails. On warm summer's nights you<br />
can sleep in the hayloft beneath a thatched roof. The farm has two tennis courts and<br />
bicycles are available for hire. Playground equipment and green areas around the<br />
house are available for children to play on.<br />

The farm is located in the northernmost part of Slovenia, in the village of Rogašovci, in a<br />
land of gently rolling hills and murmuring brooks, with lush forests, meadows, gardens,<br />
fields and vineyards. The hostess, who is also a trained cook, always makes sure that<br />
guests leave the farm satisfied. The food offered on the farm is based on traditional<br />
local cuisine and so guests can enjoy some typical dishes of the region. A large emphasis<br />
is given to dishes containing shiitake and oyster mushrooms that are grown on the<br />
farm. Dishes are accompanied by chosen wines produced by winemakers from the<br />
surrounding area. You can enjoy wine tasting in the impressive setting of a traditional<br />
underground wine cellar with vaulted ceiling. In the village of Rogašovci you must visit<br />
St. George's church, and in the nearby village of Ocinje there is a 300-year old wooden<br />
church tower. At the top of the Sotinski breg or Kugla, as it is also called (418 m), there<br />
is a viewing tower, and on the Serdiški (Rdeči) breg (416 m) there is a tourist hut. In the<br />
tiny village of Pertoči you will find St. Helen's church with Stations of the Cross made<br />
from clay by Swiss artist W. Kogler and altar mosaics by Marko Rupnik. There is also the<br />
castle in Grad (10 km away) and five thermal resorts within a 20 km range.<br />

You will find this organic farm, which is renowned as the home of outstanding<br />
beekeepers, beside the Goričko Wine Road in the Three-Country Landscape Park<br />
at a quiet and secluded spot on a hill overlooking the village. Your hosts will<br />
introduce you to the secrets of beekeeper’s cuisine with a honey breakfast and<br />
charm you every day anew with their sincerity and hospitality. When you leave<br />
the farm, you can fill your luggage with all sorts of honey items. You can devote<br />
a day on the farm to learning secrets from the family’s rich beekeeping tradition.<br />
Your hosts will happily open their beehives and show you the life of the bees<br />
inside and invite you to try various honey delicacies. During your visit you will<br />
encounter the sheep Maja and Kasandra, rabbits, birds of various species in the<br />
bird park . . . Everyone who loves peace and quiet will especially enjoy the farm,<br />
while those who like to spend their days exploring can visit Gornja Radgona,<br />
Radenci, Moravce, Graz (Austria), and Szentgotthard/Monošter (Hungary) and<br />
tour the interesting surroundings. Day tours of the farm are only possible by<br />
prior arrangement!<br />

The village of Otovci isn't particularly big, but its houses are distinguished<br />
by typical rural architecture. On the Grah excursion farm you will be offered<br />
pork, beef and chicken dishes, different cold cuts, buckwheat soup with porcini<br />
mushrooms, pork roast with vegetables, different vegetables and side dishes,<br />
as well as delicious desserts such as pujčekove glave, retaši and the famous<br />
Prekmurje layer cake (prekmurska gibanica) for which the farm has the certificate<br />
of guaranteed traditional specialty and two gold medals. You can also try some<br />
traditional pork and sausage specialties with bujta repa (sour turnip hot pot).<br />
For special occasions your hosts can prepare lunch and dinner upon previous<br />
arrangement, also on weekdays. The region of Goričko is full of interesting<br />
sights, such as the magnificent castle in Grad (the biggest castle in Slovenia). A<br />
wine and tourist road and some bike trails pass by the farm. A meeting point of<br />
three countries (Hungary, Austria, Slovenia) is nearby, and the thermal resort of<br />
Moravske Toplice is 23 km away.<br />
