The Klemenšek farm is distinguished by its marvelous view of the valley and the
surrounding peaks, but this is not the only way it differs from the neighbouring
farms: the roofs of the farmhouse and the outbuildings are attractively covered
with larch shingles. On the weekends, the farmhouse comes alive as visitors
gather around tables to relish delights such as homemade bread and cold cuts,
upper-savinjski zelodec and the hostess prepares tasty žlikrofi (a type of potato
ravioli) and štruklji. Guests can also quench their thirst with delicious homemade
juices. With advance notice, they also prepare lunches for groups. The attractive
valley offers numerous possibilities for walks as well as real mountain touring
in the Kamniške-Savinjske Alps. The most varied sport activities are possible on
the farm, which also has two takeoff points for paragliding. For invited groups
it is possible to show the farm and the collection of farm tools and also the
multimedia presentation of the farm.
This farm below Potočka Zijalka and Olševa lies at a height of 1,235 metres above
sea level, in the midst of unspoilt nature, and is the highest-lying agritourism farm in
Slovenia. Appetising smells waft from the farmhouse kitchen all year round and the
entire family are herb and mushroom experts. Guests staying on the farm – and passing
travellers – can feast on excellent savoury strudels, hotpots, ravioli, cakes of various kinds,
stuffed pig's stomach, masovnik (made with flour and cream) and other specialities. The
farmer and his wife like to fill visitors' knapsacks with home-made cheese, cottage cheese,
herbal teas, mushrooms and honey. Many animals live on the farm but children will be
especially keen on Toba, Mira and Črni ("Blackie"), the farm cats, and Laika, the farm dog,
all of whom get on very well with young visitors. The farm is an excellent starting-point
for country walks or for climbing the nearby mountains. The famous archaeological site
of Potočka Zijalka is just over an hour's walk away. Olševa, Raduha, Peca and other peaks
of the Kamnik–Savinja Alps are popular with climbers. You must also be sure to visit one
of the most beautiful valleys in Europe: Logarska Dolina. Rafting on the Savinja is a must
in the summer months, while a paraglider flight is a real adrenaline-boosting adventure.
open to guests:
1. 1. - 31. 12.
The Rogar farm is the highest tourist farm in Slovenia. Situated beside a forest at an
altitude of more than 1,200 meters, in fair weather it offers a panorama that reaches the
Kamniške-Savinjske Alps with Mount Raduha in the foreground. Among their kitchen
specialties they emphasize various cured-meat products, lamb, cottage cheese štruklji,
and for dessert, blueberry strudel. Vegetarians are also well looked after. Peace, fresh air,
and beautiful scenery are abundant at the farm. Medicinal herbs and wild mushrooms
wait for visitors to pick them in the meadows and the forest. The charming Church of
Sv. Duh is only a ten-minute walk from the farm, and it is about four kilometers to a
refreshing spring of mineral water where you will find a small pot to scoop up the
metallic-tasting water. On your way to Mt. Olševa you can stop by at the Potočka Zijalka
cave, the first Paleolithic site discovered in Slovenia.
open to guests:
20. 12. - 20. 10.
You will find the Ramšak Tourist Farm standing by itself on a sunny plain at
the foot of Mount Olševa. On the farm you will be pampered with organicallygrown
vegetables that are offered as a side dish with all their meals. They will
also look after those who swear by traditional Slovene cooking and will offer you
žlikrofi, štruklji, žganci, and other local dishes. Health food enthusiasts should
not leave the farm without the milk products, medicinal herbs, home-dried fruit,
fruit juices, teas, and jams that the family prepares with special pleasure. Your
hosts promise you genuine contact with life on a Solčava farm, and nearby there
are around thirty natural and cultural points of interest and several climbing and
hiking trails for hikers and bicyclists (Mount Olševa, Mount Raduha, a visit to
the ancient yew tree), which all invite you to visit them.
