which the Garmischer Strasse was integrated
into the Mittlerer Ring. Clearly,
the section from the Luise-Kiesselbach-
Platz towards the Westpark had to absorb
this traffic, resulting in a drastic
change to the quality of life there. The
fact that a tunnel is currently being
planned to take the traffic away from
the Garmischer Strasse shows which
way the wind is now blowing. The “carfriendly”
city now has to show that it
means what it says. The tunnel offers a
great opportunity to reconsolidate a
neighbourhood that has been cut into
pieces by traffic. GWG München is now
undertaking a major programme of
urban renovation to increase the quality
of life in the surrounding neighbourhood.
District 7, as Sendling-Westpark is
officially called, is now on the way to
becoming one of the most pleasant
neighbourhoods in the Bavarian capital,
combining a central location with a high
quality of life.
