The tall trees, the children’s playground
and the new wooden panelling on the
newly built upper storey: The estate on
the Hansastrasse looks like it has just
been built. In truth, the building originates
from the 1960s but underwent
extensive modernisation in 2000 - 2003.
The Munich-based Michael Morschek
architecture firm began by exposing the
original shell and then replacing the
outmoded electrical installations and
pipelines, before creating 100 modern,
low-energy apartments with contemporary
room layouts, including new bathrooms,
noise insulation between the
apartments and composite thermal
insulation in the façade. Ruoff landscape
architects from Ottobrunn near Munich
augmented the major structural modernisation
with contemporary garden
designs with new plants.
