4.4 OPTION 4 - TRANSFER ALL FLOW < 2*ADWF TO LANSDOWNE
ROAD WWTP AND USE THE EXISTING BLACKBURN WWTP TO
TREAT FLOWS > 2*ADWF
4.4.1 Outline
In this option all flows up to 2*ADWF would be transferred &om the
Blackburn sewage collection area for treatment at the Lansdowne Road
WWTP. The existing sewage lagoons would be used only to treat wet weather
flows > 2*AI)WF. A schematic representation of this option is presented in
Figure 4.4. An It1 reduction program is to be i~tiated and completed to reduce
the volume of wastewater being treated in the lagoons during wet weather and
snowmelt conditions. The existing Mackus Road pumpstation would be
upgraded and a new purnpstation constmcted to handle excess flow
>2*ADWF. It is believed that the Lansdowne Road WWTP has sufficient
capacity to handle the projected future 2*ADWF hydraulic and BODjtTSS
loadings fkom the Blackbum sewage collection area. All wet weather flow >
2*ADWF will be pumped to the existing Blackbum WWTP for treatment.
Key activities or capitat works associated with this option are as follows:
Implement VI reduction program.
Upgrade Mackus Road purnpstation to handle project4 increased flows.
All dry weather flows < 2'ADWF are to be pumped to Lansdowne Road
WWTP; all wet weather flows > 2*ADWF are to be pumped to Blackburn
WWTP.
Construct trunk gravity sewer and/or forcemain to transfer all flows
