A schematic representation of this option is presented in Figure
Section 4.0 - Blackbum Treatment Options 4.2. An H reduction program is to be initiated and completed to reduce the volume of wastewater being transferred during wet weather and snowmelt conditions. The existing Mackus Road pumpstation would be upgraded. It is believed that the Lansdowne Road WWTP has sufficient capacity to handle the projected future hydraulic and BOD5/TSS loadings from the Blackbum sewage collection area. Key activities or capital works assmiated with this option are as follows: Implement and complete VI reduction program. Decommission lagoons and rehabilitate site for other use. Upgrade Mackus Road pdpstation to handle projected increased flows. Construct trunk gravity sewer to transfer all flours hrn Blackbum sewerage area to Lansdowne Road WWTP. Upgrade downtown sewage collection pipework to handle increased flows from Blackbum sewerage area. Key technical issues associated with this option are as follows: Extent to which the VI reduction program is able to reduce peak wet weather flows must be evaluated. City need operate only one wastewater treatment and disposal facility. Major capital works needed to transfer flows to Lansdowne Road WWTP. Condition and capacity of the existing Mackus Road pumpstation must be evaluated. Details for pipeline routes for transferring Blackbum sewage flows to Lansdowne Road WWTP must be evaluated.
