and resistance. Lipid metabolism.
Main lines of research
-Insulin resistance induced by cytokines such as TNFalpha,
IL-6, IL-1 beta or leptin and hyperisulinaemia in
murine and human muscle and adipose cells. Studies on
mice are also being performed.
-The study of glucose homeostasis and insulin sensitivity in
GRK-2 heterozygous mice.
-The contribution of PTP1B to insulin action on glycogen
metabolism in myocytes: PTP1B as a target for the
prevention and treatment of insulin resistance.
-Pharmacological approaches such as treatment
with PPAR and LXR agonists which overcome insulin
resistance.
