<strong>The</strong>re were no sanitary conveniences <strong>at</strong><br />

<strong>The</strong> w<strong>at</strong>er supj^ly comes from a deep well on the campus,<br />

sunk for the purpose, and. is pumped by steam to tanks in<br />

the <strong>at</strong>tic <strong>of</strong> one <strong>of</strong> the buildings. A number <strong>of</strong> fire hydrants<br />

have been put in: also several <strong>at</strong>tacliments where a convenient<br />

supply <strong>of</strong> w<strong>at</strong>er for the dormitories may be drawn.<br />

At these places provision has also been made for emptying<br />

the slops from the rooms, suitable connections with the<br />

sewer having been put in. <strong>The</strong> pipes have also been extended<br />

to the various labor<strong>at</strong>ories, where a supply <strong>of</strong> w<strong>at</strong>er<br />

has been verv much needed.<br />

<strong>The</strong> sewage is discharged into a small branch about a<br />

thousand feet from the buildings, and no fear <strong>of</strong> trouble<br />

arising from th<strong>at</strong> method <strong>of</strong> disposal is apprehended. <strong>The</strong><br />

supply <strong>of</strong> drinking w<strong>at</strong>er is supposed to come from the old<br />

well on the campus, but as the new supply is r<strong>at</strong>her more<br />

convenient, and is also equally as pal<strong>at</strong>able, it will no doubt<br />

be used to a gre<strong>at</strong>er or less extent, and it<br />

behooves those in<br />

authority to see th<strong>at</strong> the new well is kept free from contamin<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />

A st<strong>at</strong>ement <strong>of</strong> the visits to the various cities follows in<br />
