means to do so.<br />
After a full discussion <strong>of</strong> the above st<strong>at</strong>ement from the<br />
Marine Hospital Service the following motion was introduced<br />
by Dr. B<strong>at</strong>tle and unanimously adopted<br />
Moved, th<strong>at</strong> in view <strong>of</strong> the inability or the unwillingness <strong>of</strong> the city<br />
<strong>of</strong> Wilmington to contribute its part towards carrying out the act <strong>of</strong> the<br />
last General Assembly providing for the erection <strong>of</strong> a first-class Quarantine<br />
St<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>at</strong> Southport, the Secretary <strong>of</strong> this Board be instructed to<br />
<strong>of</strong>ficially request the United St<strong>at</strong>es Marine Hospital Service to take charge<br />
<strong>of</strong> and oper<strong>at</strong>e th<strong>at</strong> st<strong>at</strong>ion; and th<strong>at</strong> the Secretary be authorized to<br />
explain this action on the part <strong>of</strong> the Board.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Auditing-<br />
Committee reported th<strong>at</strong> they had examined<br />
the accounts <strong>of</strong> the Treasurer and found them correct.<br />
Report adopted.<br />
On motion the Board adjourned to meet in Salisbury in<br />
Se^^tember.<br />

SEPTEMBER 13, <strong>1894</strong>.<br />
Salisbury, N. C, September 23, <strong>1894</strong>.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Board met after the adjournment <strong>of</strong> the Health Conference<br />
in priv<strong>at</strong>e session <strong>at</strong> the Central Hotel. Present:<br />
Drs. Bahnsou, B<strong>at</strong>tle, Thomas, Whitehead and Lewis.<br />
Drs. Bahnson and Lewis were elected deleg<strong>at</strong>es to the<br />
American Public Health Associ<strong>at</strong>ion. <strong>The</strong> appointment <strong>of</strong><br />
deleg<strong>at</strong>es to the N<strong>at</strong>ional Conference <strong>of</strong> St<strong>at</strong>e Boards <strong>of</strong><br />
Health was left to the President. A letter from Dr. C. O.<br />
Probst, Secretary <strong>of</strong> the N<strong>at</strong>ional Conference <strong>of</strong> St<strong>at</strong>e Boards<br />
<strong>of</strong> Health, st<strong>at</strong>ing th<strong>at</strong> the annual dues <strong>of</strong> <strong>North</strong> <strong>Carolina</strong><br />
