12 NOKTH CAROLINA BOARD OF HEALTH. MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL MEETING AT GREENSBORO IN 1894. Greensboro, N. C, May 15, 1894. TJie North Carolina Board of Health met in regular annual session in Room 15, Benbow House, at 9 p. m. There were present Drs. Bahnson, President; Harrell, Whitehead and Venable, Mr. Chase and the Secretary. • The minutes of the last meeting and of the action of the Board in regard to the resignation of Dr. J. A. Hodges and the election of his successor were read and approved. Messrs. Chase and Venable were appointed by the President a committee to audit the accounts of the Treasurer. The matter of the erection of a first-class Quarantine Station at Southport was informally discussed. Great regret was expressed at the action of the authorities of the city of Wilmington in refusing to appropriate the $5,000 necessary as a preliminary condition to receiving $20,000 from the State. The transmission of typhoid fever was the subject of a general discussion of a very interesting character. On motion it was ordered that the Board meet hereafter three times a year—every four mouths—the annual meeting to be held as usual with the State Medical Society, and the other two in September and January at such place as the Board may select and on such day as the President may appoint. On motion Salisbury was selected as the place for the next or September meeting. The President was requested to appoint the day at his convenience. On motion it was ordered that the public institutions of the State, including the convict camps, be inspected as far as practicable during the current year.
