ACTION OF THE NORTH CAROLINA BOARD OF<br />

HEALTH, IN jREGARD TO THE RESIGNATION<br />

OF DR. J. A. HODGES AND THE ELECTION OF<br />

HIS SUCCESSOR.<br />

<strong>The</strong> following letter, which ex})lains itself, was sent to<br />

every member <strong>of</strong> the Board<br />

<strong>North</strong> Carolixa Board <strong>of</strong> Health,<br />

Secretary's Office,<br />

Raleigh, November 6, <strong>1893</strong>.<br />

My dear Doctor :—I am instructed by President Bahnson to notify<br />

the members <strong>of</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong> the resign<strong>at</strong>ion, upon his removal from<br />

the St<strong>at</strong>e, <strong>of</strong> Dr. J.<br />

A. Hodges, and to ask eacli member to indic<strong>at</strong>e in a<br />

letter to the Secretary (in order to save tlie expense <strong>of</strong> a meeting for the<br />

purpose) wh<strong>at</strong> action he desires taken thereon, and his choice for his<br />

successor.<br />

Please write me promptly in accordance with the above and oblige,<br />

By the answers to the above letter received from all the<br />

members <strong>of</strong> the Board, and now on file in the Secretary's<br />

<strong>of</strong>fice,<br />

the resign<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> Dr. Hodges was accepted and Dr.<br />

John Whitehead, <strong>of</strong> Salisbury, was unanimously elected to<br />

fill<br />

the vacancy.<br />

Dr. Whitehead was duly notified <strong>of</strong> his election and<br />

signified his acceptance <strong>of</strong> the position.<br />
