On motion the Secretary Avas ordered to have printed in<br />
pamphlet form, and generally distributed, the article on<br />
"<strong>The</strong> Prevention <strong>of</strong> Tuberculosis," by Dr. S. Westray B<strong>at</strong>tle,<br />
and th<strong>at</strong> on "Drinking W<strong>at</strong>er in its Rel<strong>at</strong>ion to Malarial<br />
Diseases," by the Secretary, just read before the Health<br />
Conference.<br />
On motion Mr. J. C. Chase, the Engineer <strong>of</strong> the Board,<br />
was requested to make a thorough inspection <strong>of</strong> the various<br />
St<strong>at</strong>e institutions and <strong>of</strong> tlie w<strong>at</strong>er supplies and sewerage systems,<br />
present and prospective, <strong>of</strong> the more important cities<br />
and towns <strong>of</strong> the St<strong>at</strong>e and to report the results <strong>of</strong> the same<br />
to the Board.<br />
On motion tlie meeting adjourned.<br />

Having been notified by his Excellency the Governor<br />
<strong>of</strong> the resign<strong>at</strong>ion from the Board <strong>of</strong> Dr. H. T. Bahnson,<br />
<strong>of</strong> Salem, for many j-ears its active and efficient President,<br />
I addressed the following letters to each member <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Board. <strong>The</strong>y show the method <strong>of</strong> the election <strong>of</strong> Dr.<br />
George Gillett Thomas, <strong>of</strong> Vvilmington, as his successor in<br />
the presidenc}^ :<br />

My dear Doctor :—Dr. Bahnson, being a member <strong>of</strong> two boards, has<br />
tbought it proper to resign from one <strong>of</strong> them, and has, I am sorry to<br />
say, elected to give up ours. We are, therefore, without a President,<br />
