MISSION<br />

This Department provides business education that equips graduates with global knowledge and<br />

experiences, leadership capabilities, technological competence, and analytic skills to compete in the<br />

global marketplace.<br />

DESCRIPTION OF THE DEPARTMENT<br />

The Department of Management, Marketing and Public Administration offers a Bachelor of Science<br />

degree in Business Administration with four concentrations: General Business, Management, Marketing<br />

and Procurement and Contracting. In addition, the Management Concentration offers two specialty<br />

tracks, Small Business/ Entrepreneurship and Industrial Relations.<br />

The Department of Management, Marketing and Public Administration place special emphasis on<br />

excellence in teaching. Research in teaching methodology and the learning process as a means of<br />

enhance teacher’s excellence and to improve instruction is encouraged. Computer applications in all<br />

disciplines stressed.<br />

Entering students are expected to successfully satisfy the requirements for the business mathematics<br />

proficiency course by taking BUAD‐100 (Business Mathematics). All majors are required to earn at least<br />

a “C” grade in all courses in their major program. Graduating seniors are encouraged to take the<br />

national standardized Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) during the fall semester of their<br />

senior year. After completing Expository Writing (ENGL 101) and Argument and Research (ENGL 102),<br />

students must take and successfully pass the <strong>Bowie</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong> English Proficiency Examination.<br />

Transfer students who completed their English composition requirements at another institution must<br />

also take the <strong>Bowie</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong> English Proficiency Examination during their first semester of<br />

enrollment at the <strong>University</strong>.<br />
