THE SOCIOLOGY MAJOR<br />

Students who major in Sociology have the option of pursuing the BA degree (language required) or the<br />

BS degree. This major provides students with 18 semester hours of a “core” that emphasizes training in<br />

theory and research methodology. Students then focus their studies in Criminal Justice or Sociology. The<br />

Criminal Justice concentration provides students with 30 hours in this field, including a practicum or field<br />

experience course. The Sociology concentration consists of 18 semester hours in sociological topics<br />

including SOCI 203: Deviant Behavior, and SOCI 408: Collective Behavior.<br />
